RedneckBob Posted August 25 #30 Share Posted August 25 1 hour ago, summer slope said: I can't call today's drink a cocktail. Orange Bomb: There are multiple variations of this drink, but this one is the simplest, yet tastiest of them all. Combines just 2 ingredients: Mandarin Vodka and Energy Drink. As it courses through your palate, it ignites a playful explosion of flavors, much like a firework in the night sky. Whether you're in the mood for a taste adventure or ready to set the party on fire, the "Orange Bomb" shot is the ideal choice to infuse your night with excitement and citrusy delight. Ingredients: 1 oz. mandarin vodka 8 oz. red bull Directions: Pour Red bull into a beer mug. Pour the orange vodka separately into a shot glass, drop it into the beer mug, and chug. If I mix alcohol with an energy drink I will definitely bomb! 😀 7

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted August 25 #32 Share Posted August 25 Good morning from a more comfortable and sunny central Teas. It is 75F with 88% humidity and a dew point of 72F. There is a 2mph breeze which will increase to 10mph later. Our predicted high is 96F, much better than triple digits. When I finish here and have breakfast, I'll mow and trim the grass. I also need to deadhead the marigolds and see if I can get them to last a little longer. They are huge again this year. I'll honor all the national parks around the world. We've done our share of donating clothes for others who need them. Someone else can have my whiskey sour. A long, but good quote from John Lennon. We'll pass on the meal, drink and wine today. We have not been to the Maldives, but have sailed close to them, if that counts. Three good but very different days in history to celebrate. I wonder what Galileo would think if he could see today's telescopes. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, safe travels home tomorrow. @Cruzin Terri Terri, safe travels to Jacksonville tomorrow. I hope you have a good report from your PCP, and that the orthopedist has a solution that does not include surgery. @ottahand7 Good luck fishing today, Nancy. I hope all the computer and internet problems in the Seattle port including SeaTac, which could be a cyber attack, don't cause Marcia @dobiemom and Lisa @LAFFNVEGAS problems getting to the ship today. Rare rafinmd Posted August 25 #34 Share Posted August 25 @Cruzin Terri and @marshhawk do you have a local office on aging that could suggest some resources? Also, Terri, I would definitely recommend checking with the Mayo staff about how to handle the recovery if surgery is necessary. Roy 22
Seasick Sailor Posted August 25 #35 Share Posted August 25 Good morning Dailyites A beautiful 73 degrees warming to 96 today. Thank you @grapau27 Graham for Father David's message. Adding to our list of prayers are the tropical storm and hurricane headed to the Hawaiian Islands. @JazzyV I thank everyone for prayers for Bonnie. Please remove her from your list, it will be a longer recovery than expected. Last night's birthday party was so much fun. The theme was "The man, the myth, the legend " A lot of laughs. I'm taking full advantage of our Sunday. No chores, no market, no anything! Tomorrow starts 5 days of appointments, mani and pedi, hair cut, our new Covid shots, flu and RSV, and a Birthday lunch. Saturday is our big day, flying to Seattle to start our cruise! My girlfriend is moving in to stay with Oliver, and they both love one another. Wishing you a Blessed week. God bless! 24

Rare Nickelpenny Posted August 25 #40 Share Posted August 25 Thanks for the daily and fleet report. Growing up, we camped at many western National Parks and thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the service workers. I am both a donor and recipient of second-hand clothing and have gotten many good bargains there. I might have to try a whiskey sour but definitely won't try an Orange Bomb (energy drink 🤢). Love chickpeas so the meal would be wonderful but not the sweet wine. Never been to the Maldives (just close - Sri Lanka). I love the quote as it took me a long, long time to realize I needed to love myself. Interesting days in history. We barely made it to 97F yesterday but no monsoon action. It was a very pleasant day but hoping for some rain today 🤞. Presently at ~0715 it is 78F with 57% humidity. Another lazy Sunday is the plan today. Maybe get some inspiration from my Spain book or cook or nothing at all. Bon Voyage to @LAFFNVEGAS and @dobiemom!! Enjoy your AK cruise!! The cruising list sure is getting longer!! Thoughts for anyone needing extra support and/or who are carers for those with medical difficulties. Cheers to those celebrating. Have a fantastic day everyone!! 25 2
ger_77 Posted August 25 #41 Share Posted August 25 Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! Yay for National Park Service Day - over the years we've visited many national parks. I'm all for second hand wardrobes; I'll buy clothing at a second hand store, bring it home, wash and wear it; I'm not proud that way. Someone else can have my whiskey sour, but I'd love to go to the Maldives! It's a cool morning for us today at 8C(46F), and not expected to get overly warm with a high of only 21(69). Yesterday the heat spiked on us and after I'd expanded the table on the deck, brought out extra chairs, set and decorated the table, about 20 minutes before our guests arrived for dinner, both DH and I decided it was simply too hot to eat out there. Take everything apart, and repeat the process in the dining room. It was so much more comfortable eating indoors than out. @LAFFNVEGAS and @dobiemom Bon Voyage; I hope the 3 of you have another great cruise together! @cunnorl I hope you're not too bruised after your fall from the bus yesterday! @kazusorry you didn't get as much done as you'd hoped. Take it slow and easy as you get through everything. Not a lot happening for us today, just general tidying up after last night's dinner guests, and maybe having a chance to sit and read a book for a change. I've got so many downloaded to my iPad that it's time to get into them. I'm passing on the drink, have had the wine - it's quite sweet, and definitely a dessert wine, and will pass on the menu suggestion. We have leftovers from last night so it's looking like barbecued chicken, salmon and salads will be what we'll enjoy on the deck this evening. And wine. Prayers for everyone who needs them, and even for those who don't think they do. Cheers to all with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry 27

aliaschief Posted August 25 #43 Share Posted August 25 Good morning. It’s a beautiful day in upper Michigan. May get up to low eighties. The barber shoppers concert was fantastic. After the concert we rode back to East Jordan and cooked fresh Lake Michigan salmon on the grill and devoured them as part of our Caesar salads. So good. Today is enjoying the outdoors, reading and visiting and there will be a happy hour and wonderful dinner. Fly home tomorrow and will start preparing for our next trip in four days. Thanks for the reports and post. B. 13

Cruising-along Posted August 25 #45 Share Posted August 25 Good morning all! The rain is gone! Yay! Now we have 10 days of sunshine (maybe a few showers on Tuesday) and mid-high 70's. Perfect, and we did need the rain. I can finally get outside and finish the 2nd raised bed today. Yesterday I made the blackberry jam and had enough for a good-size blackberry crisp too. Yum. Of the 63 US National Parks I counted 25 that I've visited, may have missed a few. DD and her family went to 16 of them on their recent 5-week road trip. They went to some I'd never heard of! We have donated a lot of clothes to second-hand shops and have a bag waiting to go now. No whisky sour for me thank you. I'll also pass on the drink, sweet wine and meal (more because of the avocado than the chickpeas.) Tonight we'll be having lamb chops. Have not been to Male, but it's on the '26 World itinerary, I hope someone has photos today. Good quote from John Lennon. Bon Voyage Lisa and Tom @LAFFNVEGAS! Bon Voyage Marcia @dobiemom! One month from today we will leave for our yearly jaunt to Yellowstone (my favorite National Park). Can't wait! If I can't be cruising I want to be there. Have a great day everyone! 25

marshhawk Posted August 25 #49 Share Posted August 25 Good Sunday Morning Dailyites! F1 was on this morning, glad I made DH check the F1 channel. He thought the season started back next week, but there was too much chatter on googly news, so we woke exactly at 9, ran down the hall and got DH and we got to watch the race. It has been cooler, but starting today temps will begin to rise again. @StLouisCruisers it will feel like TX when you get back tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, safe travels @Cruising Terri, have fun with your visits and hoping for non invasive help with your shoulder. @rafinmdRoy thank you for the recommendation. I was able to get DH an on line "shrink" to talk with through his oncologist, but for some reason this doc while, he says I am a saint *, has no recommendation for me. I meet a lot of people at the Winshiip center who's doctors say that when one part of a couple is sick/has cancer it means that their partner does too. But DH has decided not to pursue Dr's at Winship but to stay with Northside, and they cant get an appointment for a dementia diagnosis for a year. My doc is too young to understand any sort of problems that older folks suffer through, so if you know anyone who is studying to be a doc-tell them that they should become a specialist in "older" / senior patients. * I am currently nowhere near being a Saint. 20 3
kochleffel Posted August 25 #50 Share Posted August 25 I'm in favor of all three of the special days. I would like the salad, even with the chickpeas, but not the drink -- a bizarre version of a Depth Charge, which I wouldn't like, either. Finger Lakes wineries excel in dessert wines, and are among the few producers in the world of ice wines, which have to be hand-harvested when the temperature is below 18° F., often in the dark by workers wearing headlamps. They are expensive: for example, the Weis Vineyards Noble Select Riesling, which is a Trockenbeerenauslese, not an ice wine, is $109 for 375 ml. When we get up from the floor, maybe we'll try their Winzer Select Riesling, only $28.99 for a full bottle. 'Our Winzer Select Riesling A is made in likeness to the traditional German "Auslese", meaning "selected harvest." The grapes for this wine were hand-harvested, and a portion of them were affected by botrytis; this disease is more commonly known as Noble Rot. This exceptional Riesling wine abounds with dazzling fruit of candied pear and apricot balanced with a naturally sweet finish. Courtesy of the botrytis, aromas of honeysuckle and key lime lead to a soft and creamy palate combined with plenty of tropical and stone fruit.' 13 1
