bfgood2 Posted August 26 #1 Share Posted August 26 Is what exactly On Board Credit be used for described somewhere on the HAL website? What is the best way to make sure it's applied to all your purchases that qualify? I've previously gone to the Shore Excursions booking desk and asked them to apply my pre-cruise credit card purchases to have my OBC credited. Do I have to do that for Spa appointments, specialty dining etc.? It seems like a big mystery and they certainly don't do it automatically if you've pre-booked any of these, as I found out the hard way on a prior cruise. Thanks. CruiserBruce Posted August 26 #2 Share Posted August 26 Just look around this board a bit..it's discussed here frequently. OBC can be applied to anything charged to your account. Non-refundable OBC is used first...you can see this on your account on the TV or in the Navigator app. OBC can be applied to shore excursions only after you board, so you can transfer shore excursion fees to OBC once you board. The one big mystery to me is for casino spend. I believe that can only be charged against refundable OBC.
Rare WriterOnDeck Posted August 26 #3 Share Posted August 26 Non-refundable OBC can be used for anything except casino and cash withdrawal. Your pre-paid items (shorex, specialty dining for example) might be able to be refunded on board to your on-board account (refundable). It won’t be credited to your credit card. (Although once it is converted to refundable, whatever isn’t spent will go to your credit at the end of the cruise.) I have worked on board with the shorex team to have prepaid tours converted to refundable OBC and recharged to non-refundable.
