cccole Posted August 31 #1 Share Posted August 31 (edited) Hi. Do the aft wrap balconies get larger as you go down from Deck 8 to Deck 4? We love the aft wrap balconies and are currently booked on Deck 8, the only one available. We had a Deck 8 aft wrap on the Oosterdam, the only one available, and it was great. But, if Decks 6 and 7 have larger balconies, but same size suites, I will ask our TA to keep checking for one. I know decks 4 and 5 have the largest balconies but we have eliminated Deck 5 because it is mostly covered, and the window washing equipment on Deck 4 could be problematic. Thanks for any insights. Rare Haljo1935 Posted August 31 #2 Share Posted August 31 Our experience is yes, the balconies do get larger as you move down. We were in a deck 4 aft wrap and never had issues with the window washing equipment; we just made sure it was not in our pictures. We didn't see it move for the 14 days we were in that cabin. sciencewonk Posted September 1 #3 Share Posted September 1 We have stayed in aft wraps on Noordam on the starboard side of deck 6 and the port side of deck 4. Although the stateroom on deck 4 may have been slightly larger than on deck 6, it didn't really feel any different. Likewise, the balcony didn't feel any different. We had no issues with the window washing equipment. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the aft wrap-around cabins. There are a couple of other things that might factor into your choices. The cabin on deck 8 will be considerably closer to the Neptune Lounge. I preferred the longer walks, but it was less convenient. Also, deck 8 is right below the lido. I don't know if there will be sound issues coming from the deck above it. We love Noordam and have a future cruise booked on it in Japan and South Korea in 2025. We have another aft wrap-around booked. Which cruise are you on?
cccole Posted September 1 Author #4 Share Posted September 1 @sciencewonk Thank you for the info. We will be on the South Pacific Island cruise in January 2026. At the moment we have the same aft wrap on Deck 8 that we had on the Oosterdam this year. Loved it, and there was no noise from the deck above. I also like walking to/from the Neptune Lounge, show room, spa, etc to get some exercise. Happy to hear that you like the Noordam. Cherie
cccole Posted September 1 Author #5 Share Posted September 1 @Haljo1935 I know we will enjoy whichever aft wrap we end up with. I don't want to worry about the window washing equipment so Deck 4 is not on our wish list but I think I will ask our TA to look for cancellations in Decks 6 & 7 aft wraps. Thank you for your comments. Cherie
