I'm really interested in the different port choices, as we also leave Thurs! Also, I absolutely love Seward. The Cookery is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Alaska. Rare BBGrace273 Posted September 11 Author #7 Share Posted September 11 Our welcome in YVR. The view from the Douglas. The Sam Kee building. Skinniest building, at 36 inches wide. Some lovely Chinatown streets/trees. The Gastown Steamclock. The Olympic Torch. The Digital Orca. The cool facade of the Cardero. The Pavillion in Stanley Park. The skyline (obvi) First Nation monuments and gate. Prospect Point and Lions Gate Bridge. Of course we got ice cream. I had earl grey and honey. Delish! Super cool house and landscaping. The laughing men and the Muro (Berkeley Tower). Palm trees in Canada! The World's Fair Expo Center. My welcome surprise waiting in my room. Hope you enjoyed my first day of vacation as much as I did. 2 days until Silver Nova!

FauxNom Posted September 12 #13 Share Posted September 12 We're enjoying gorgeous weather and lunch in the place I think of as "The Grill" on deck 10. Vancouver is shining today and the ship is very impressive! And now, to find a trivia team 😁
Rare BBGrace273 Posted September 13 Author #14 Share Posted September 13 The view from the Dusk Bar! (My tech is still being snarky.) @agape01, thanks for the outside shots. Dad and I came from the other direction, and were whisked downstairs to the wheelchair pickup before we even saw her. I have been WHIRLWIND the last couple of days, so I plan on making up for missed posts on our first sea day tomorrow. Already in love with this ship!!

Would you happen to know if they have a Main protein available for someone who needs gluten-free? That's slim pickings for a celiac. TIA

Cairns Cruisers Posted September 13 #17 Share Posted September 13 In Vancouver for Sapphire Princess on Saturday, watched you sail away. Looks like a lovely ship, those aft rooms look sensational!
Rare BBGrace273 Posted September 13 Author #18 Share Posted September 13 After 3 visits to the WIFI desk, my teck is now finally cooperating. Today was crazy hectic. (Not helped by the fact that I prolly imbibed a little too much on Wed. night.) Embarked around 12:30. Easy peasy. Went to The Marquee for lunch. Da had calamari and the fish and chips. I had a Caesar salad. Then I took my first trip to the wifi desk. Dad and I had shipped a bag each. (Don't come at me for overpacking. It's my first cruise, I'm excited, and packed for multiple climates.) I was trying to be able to see where my bags were, based on the air tags, but it just wouldn't load. I went to the salon to try and win a gift certificate. I didn't. Then I tried to get my reservations for salt lab. I did. Dad sat outside in the orange grove and enjoyed the weather. Then I settled dad into his room, and I tried to set up my room a little. It didn't work so much. Shipped bags arrived, but dad's checked bag was still missing. So that was a mini heart attack until it was found. Got that sorted. Sail away. Got pictures of Lion's Gate both coming and going. Went for a quick swim. Fantastic! Met @FauxNom. Grabbed Dad and went for a walk. I went to the solo cruisers event. Then unpacked a little more, and off to dinner outside at La Terazza. Started with bread and a charcuterie board. Tuna stuffed peppers and cheese to start with the grouper for the main for dad. a caprese salad and the mushroom parmesan risotto with pistachios for me. We both had the red. Skipped dessert, as I am trying really hard to not gain 1000 pounds while onboard. We enjoyed the transition from twilight to darkness. Went on another walk around the boat and showed dad the gorgeous library. Then it was back to my room to actually REALLY unpack, and make everything just so. Ending the night with this post, and ending this post with the dinner menus. Until tomorrow!

Would you happen to know if they have a Main protein available for someone who needs gluten-free? That's slim pickings for a celiac. TIA I have sailed many times on Silversea and never had a problem with being served gluten free food. There are several GF options on every menu. Nearly all soups and sauces are gluten free, with the obvious exceptions. Sandwiches, burgers and wraps can be made with gluten free bread. At the Grill/Marque there are GF buns for the burgers, or just go without. In the restaurants, the waiter will bring a menu that has been marked up. You can also ask for something to be made for you with 24-hours notice. Arts Cafe is my least favourite place for breakfast or lunch, but there is always a gluten free biscuit or macaroon. Rare BBGrace273 Posted September 13 Author #24 Share Posted September 13 What a morning! I awoke super early after a late night. Did some in room stretches and exercises. Headed to the fitness center around 6:15 for my easy on the knees workout. Then I did morning stretches with Michael and some other (more flexible than me) passengers. Then the pool opened at 8. Swam laps in the beautiful rain. Why didn't I take pictures??? I have to remember for next time! Hit the excursion desk for our tickets. Then hit the buffet for breakfast, right before it closed. Ran to Jeremy's lovely talk on our first 3 excursion cities. Ran to meet the officers and a quick coffee in the Art's Cafe. Then right back to the lounge for Sue's talk on mindful eating to avoid weight gain while on board. Fantastic morning!
