Rare OceanCruise Posted September 16, 2024 #1 Posted September 16, 2024 If I booked my cruise through a travel agent, does my final payment go through that travel agent or should I be calling Ponant to pay directly? Although I can pull up my booking on the Ponant website, it does not show what I already paid/owe and I do not see a method to pay through the website. I have a copy of the booking and deposit payment that my TA sent when I booked (I still have plenty of time before final payment is due). Will my TA be sending my final documents/luggage tags or will I be able to access these through the website? When do these generally become available? I am very experienced with cruising mass market lines but am a bit clueless regarding Ponant and am having difficulty finding certain info on their website.
Rare jpalbny Posted September 16, 2024 #2 Posted September 16, 2024 My TA handles the deposit and the final payment. She sends me an invoice showing what's been paid, and when the final payment is due, then updates that with a new invoice once it's PIF. Luggage tags? I can't remember but I think they were in the final documents, which came from our TA as well. Or maybe we got them at the pier. 1 2

We booked directly and the final payment showed up prominently on the website as something that needed to be completed along with our profiles, etc. So I think your payment will go through the TA, although you should probably check with them. Our final documents were emailed about four weeks before departure, not downloaded from the site. (We had also asked that they be provided through postal mail, and that packet arrived around the same time.) 1
Rare AussieBoyTX Posted September 17, 2024 #4 Posted September 17, 2024 Some ships are now paperless -- the cruise documents come as a PDF relayed from the TA. This was the case on our cruises on Le Soléal Le Lapérouse and Le Ponant this past year -- it may be confined to the Pacific Ocean for now.

Our Le Bougainville Mediterranean packet included a notice that they would not be publishing their "book" (95 page detailed description of the voyage!) in the future. 1 1
