Yesterday dh had a ton of questions and wouldn't you know today he can't remember 1 of them. LOL. I am sure they will come to mind though.

One question though... Overall what would you say about the cruise? We leave on Saturday for this Sunday's sailing and we are very excited about it.

I'm glad you had a great cruise and I would love to read a review also. The last one I read the hot tubs were broken all week. I hope they had them fixed for your cruise. How are the cruise director and his social hosts? We love going to the activities and the better the staff the more fun it is.

I think you all are really going to love your cruise! I do want to sit down and write a review but I am so backed up at work (I guess I was missed!LOL) that I will have to wait til this weekend to write it.

The ship is GORGEOUS! This was my 4th Carnival cruise & the best by far. We had a balcony stateroom, our first. I will never book anything less in the future. We are spoiled.

We went with a group of 6 & packed as many activities as we could in the 6 1/2 days. Now we are exausted & need a vacation from our vacation!

We had great weather, very little rain (mostly in the afternoons in NO) & fairly calm seas. Everything was in working order on the ship, spas, pools, elevators, etc. The ship holds 3000 plus passangers very nicely. There are 4 buffet lines on Lido deck which never seemed overly crowded (use the ones in the back, people always seemed to crowd the front 2 & the lines were always shorter in the back.) The food was good on some nights/days, not so great on others, desserts on the buffet line need to be improved. We injoyed it all because we didn't have to cook it! icon_razz.gif The small specialty resturants were the best, try all of them while you are there. Especially try Sur Mer (I may have spelled that wrong). It is located on the deck above the Lido buffet & most people never found it...no lines, ever. They served fried fish, calamari, oysters, etc. It was excellent. We did try The Point on one evening. It was a wonderful experience & the food was top notch. Go very hungry if you go....just when you think you are finished, they bring out another course!

Jamacia was typically Jamacia. You really have to put up with alot there. Conquest is their only ship each week (so we were told) during summer. All the other ships go to Ocho Rios. This makes the locals extra pushy. Four of our group hired a private cab/tour gentleman who for $35 a person took them everywhere they wanted to go for the day. He even went into the shops with them & kept them from being harrased. Their big highlight was going to Nigrel (spelling I know is wrong on that) where they enjoyed beautiful white sand beaches, parasailing, great snorkeling, & the other, much better Margaritaville. The Margaritaville in MO was horrid. No beach for the kids & adults, crowded to the hilt, very poor food & service. We couldn't even get into the little gift shop. I would never reccomend going there to anyone. We found lots of people that felt the same way. Our group of four found their tour guide for the day right on the pier, after exiting the ship (in front of the terminal). They feel the whole experience with this gentleman was the highlight of their cruise. The cruise director tried really hard & we did like him. I had read negatives about him but we did not feel that way. The talent show was the best show of the week. Do not miss it if at all possible.

I really envy you all as I would like to pack up again & head off for one more time! icon_biggrin.gif We loved it that much.

Check out the thread I started titled Sunset Beach Resort http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=44281. I just found out about it and if we go back to Montego Bay (still undecided on which ship) then we are going here. Sounds very nice. I doesn't look like they advertise the fact that they accept cruise passengers for the day - so it won't be overrun with hundreds of people with Carnival towels. It will also be much closer then Negil.

No one on the boards can tell anyone else on the ship where they are going. It will be our little secret.

I just got off the Conquest 6/6/04 sailing. Was fab for us too. BUT....next time dh and I are going by our selves! ;o) We took our young adult single children on this cruise....sigh! Wanted to worry about them all the time while they partied hardy....LOL! Don't know why I didn't worry about myself while I was partying on board....LOL!

Anyhoo.....we had a wonderful time on this fabulous ship also. We were treated royally by all staff and everything worked perfect. The ship was really clean considering the number of people and constant use it gets. Our comforter for our bed in our stateroom was kind of worn; but all we had to do was ask our charmer of a room steward for a newer looking one....and all was accomplished very easily. We found privacy and had fun in the crowds also. I recommend this cruise to everyone.

I would be glad to answer questions also.....ydujyak@aol.com

<<Hi JudyKa, Glad you had a great time on the Conquest. Do you recommend seeing any particular shows?>>

Perkins, to be honest with you and like others have said on here, we enjoyed the cruisers' talent show the most. That was fun and took place toward the end of the cruise. There are alot of surprising unannounced talent in among the passengers.

We took in the Vegas type show one time also....was pretty good for a show on a ship. Guess we are little spoiled with the shows we attended in Vegas last summer....LOL! BUT, it was very commendable.....worth spending an hour doing after a late dinner.

There were also several band acts that were very good with nostalgia music (all types of music!) There was a very talented young man that played an acoustic guitar and sang in the casino and bar. Also, there were a couple of what appeared to be Phillipino? band acts that were VERY good. Played everything from Elvis to current Rock......this one duo that played out on the Lido Deck at night even played "New York, New York" type tunes if requested VERY well. The piano (jazz) bar was a popular spot.... Really, you never wanted for entertainment.

Was the ride smooth? I read an earlier (a few weeks) post where they found the ocean was a little rough.

TomD, to answer your question about the ride...it was fairly smooth most of the time. The Mississippi is smooth going down river. The seas had 4-5' swells on Monday (with whitecaps). This was probably due to the big tropical depression that turned into a storm that hit Cozumel & Texas a few days before we embarked. The further we got out into the Carribean, the calmer it became. From Jamaica on, it was very calm. The only time we felt real rocking & rolling was when we re-entered the Mississippi River on our return. We were seated for our late night dinner in the Monet Dining Room (back of the ship) at the time. I kept seeing these huge oil rigs, very close, on either side of the ship & it felt like we were menurvering around & through them as we hit the up-river current of the Mississippi. Our head waiter said the motion was normal for that area.

One thing to keep in mind when cruising on the Conquest...she is a HUGE ship & motion is at a minimal. It also depends where you are on the ship. Midship, lower decks feel very little motion. The higher up you are & the further aft, the more you will feel movement. I usually get motion sickness & always bring a supply of bonnine but I am proud to say, I didn't have to use one tablet on this cruise. Have a WONDERFUL cruise!

Are the Fan Bar (serves coffee, ice cream, snacks, etc.) and the sushi bar extra?

Also, from all the pics I've seen, none of the lounges/bars have windows, is this correct? On our last cruise we mainly sat around in the lounge which had panoramic windows at the forward of the ship and a nice piano player almost all day long.

Just one more question, is it hard to get a table for two in the dining room?

Thanks for your help. Trying to decide on spending our anniversary in Vegas or on the Conquest.

Thanks again.

What level were you on the Conquest? We are by the elevators on the upper deck. I wonder if that level feels the motion.

I love hearing what surprised people -- from what they expected to what they actually experienced. Please share your experience on the Conquest!

Cafe Fans has the deserts & coffees at a small charge. The sushi is no charge. We were on Lido Deck in May and there was hardly any movement at all.

Hi RinaJune!

Oh did we have fun...even though I broke one of my toes!LOL Right now, we (my group of 6) are all feeling the 'Cruise Blues'. Of course, we all know the cure for that is to sign up for another cruise :0) Believe it or not, my daughter & I are actually thinking of booking the Conquest again for next June. We love NO & we sure loved the Conquest. The ports are some of our favorites so we really wouldn't mind doing this trip again.

For those wanting to know about deck motion, we were on Empress deck 7. We did feel a little motion on Sunday night...rocked to sleep actually (it was gentle). Only felt it a few more times that week. Nothing to worry about, not unpleasant & didn't cause us to walk funny (I have had that experience on other cruises big time...and, it was not because of my drink orders!)

On the island viewing question, we really didn't notice any islands in the distance at all.

We woke up during our arrival into MOBay. That was pretty. We did see the coast of Mexico while we were heading to Cozumel. Otherwise, all we saw was ocean, dolphins on our return, twice running along side of the ship...and flying fish, trying to get away from the ship. It was wonderful. :0)

Do you see any islands on the way to the first port? If so, where?

If it's still light out, you should be able to make out the various islands that make up the Mississippi Delta.

Then depending on how close the ship needs to get on the way to Jamaica, you ought to be able to make out the western tip of Cuba in the distance.

We just got back from the Conquest on 6-27. I am like Judy--too busy at work right now to post a review. I pretty much agree with her on everything. We went to Margaritaville and she is right about the crowds, food, etc. Our guys rented a jet ski that came by and had fun--but the place is pretty wild. We enjoyed everything on the ship. Our passenger talent show was a letdown. Only 3 acts performed. They had some good filler stuff at the end though and the night was enjoyable. Pizza and ice cream are great. We had wonderful weather--not a drop of rain the entire week. We must have been living right also b/c we were the first color called off the ship!! We were off by 8:15 and out of New Orleans by 9am. We were on Upper deck forward and felt little motion. None of the motion was bad enough for me to feel sickly. It was more noticeable aft.

Any other questions, I will be happy to answer!
