just returned from Western cruise 12-03-06

My husband and I (along with our two adult children 22 and 25) just returned from a Western Cruise with Costa Magica. Although much has been already written about this cruiseship, we just wanted to share some of our experiences:

-Arrived at port on March 12 at 12:30. Efficient and quick embarkation.

-Upon entering the Beautiful ship, we were greeted by staff and directed to our room by 1pm.

-We had lunch and waited for our luggage. (Arrived at 4pm). In the future, we will bring our swimwear in our carry-ons and head to the pool.

-The room was nice and clean :D(Except for our balcony- :(the floor and the glass panels were quite dirty). The two extra beds were already made up. Kind of crowed for four adults, but we expected that. We so appreciated our balcony- like an extra sitting and quiet area.

-We soon met our cabin stewart- very couteous and hardworking throughout the week.

Other observations:

-Large beautiful ship-spotless everywhere.Less crowded on the 9th,10th and 11th decks outside but quite windy.

-Numerous staff - all courteous, friendly and helpful (not to mention HARD-WORKING).:)

-Good food- great variety- (What a challenge to prepare and serve such a large crowd in a short time period) Kudos to the chefs and staff...

-Good ship entertainment and several lounges with good music. We mostly enjoyed Vincente, the classical pianist.

-WONDERFUL STAFF- 72 nationalities getting along and working hard side by side.

-Good ports of call: Key West, Cozymel, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. (Tours were expensive, so we chose to hire a taxi driver for a few hours and he would bring us everywhere out of the tourist zone and offer personal experiences). Great education!!! The kids went tubing, snorkelling, feeding the stingrays and jet-skiing. Great fun!!

-Our room was on deck 6, just above the Capri Lounge. Way too Noisy till

1 AM. Will remember to upgrade to deck 7 next time.

-We thoroughly enjoyed the pools and the whirpools and wished that one of each would remain open till 11pm.

All in all, a wonderful vacation !!

COSTA PROVIDED A GREAT CRUISING EXPERIENCE !:):D

We will recommend this cruiseline and will probably do the Mediteranean next time.
