We are going on the Holland Zaandam in July. We arrive the night before the cruise and are looking forward to spending 2 nights after the cruise. Any advice appreciated from grouchy or other locals of what we could/should do the morning before our cruise, the evening after our cruise and all day the next day. We are staying at the Hyatt near the Canada place. We also need suggestions for great local, fair priced food (Seafood, Indian and Mexican is our favorite). The C Bridge interests us and G Mountain...how much time should we plan for each. I know I am asking for alot, but any advice is appreciated! THANKS!!!!

on a hotel? Have you looked into Priceline? We only have a couple of Mexican places in Vancouver and I don't think they are great. Right now until Sept-Chinatown has an open night market. They have lots of great food and it gives you a chance to sample a few things.

Do NOT miss Grouse Mountain. I was there two weeks ago before boarding the Serenade of the Seas. On a clear day you can see forever. After your walking tour, enjoy a great martini in the lounge on the upper floor of the lodge. Be sure to ask for a table with a view. We spent over an hour sampling items from their menu. Say hello to the bears for me!

If you like theater, Bard on the Beach is located in Vanier Park and is featuring "Modern renditions" of three Shakespear shows this summer. My wife and I will be spending a day in Vancouver pre-cruise in September. We plan to do a walking tour of the Canada Place surroundings and then go to the theater for the evening. You can check out show schedules and pricing by internet at http://www.bardonthebeach.org. Happy Cruising!!

go to stanley park and take a nice walk along the sea wall and it is free. it is a wonderful path to see all the activity on the water as you stroll along and dream about getting on the ship and your cruise. there is also an aquariam on grandville island. the market there is a good place to visit and pick up some wine or special things for the cruise. have a great time.
