Just back from the Conquest! Quick review...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Just back from the Conquest (4-23-06 sailing). Wow!!! What a trip! Calm seas, perfect weather, EXCELLENT food and incredible service. This was the best vacation we have ever been on, bar none, no exceptions.

I will write a review a more thorough review later, but I have to give this trip 4.75 out of 5 stars only because the entertainment was a bit a slow at times, and Jamaica was um... well, Jamaica. :) The dancers and musicians were great, as was the comedian/magican. The Juggler and the other comic on board were just "ok". Anyone else catch the ventriloquist? He was hilarious when he put the mask on the "live dummy".

Jamaica: Hey mon, want to buy something special? Ugh.. at least 10 offers. Pretty waters, nice people too.

Cayman: GORGEOUS! We rented a car (70 USD, all day) and drove the entire island. You MUST see Rum Point, it's just plain amazing.

Cozumel: Playa Mia, very fun, nice staff, good drinks and decent food. We had a blast. 18+ only IMHO.

Cruise Director: Todd. Todd was ok up on stage, but disappeared when not "performing". We approached him and he actually blew us off. Folks, this is not a big surprise, as most people who are very dynamic on stage are just plain reserved one on one. We gave him a break, and he did a pretty good job. More later.. bye! :)

Sounds indeed like you had a good time. Glad that the weather was great for you. Any chance of getting copies of your capers??

Can you elaborate a little more on Playa Mia ?

We purchased our tickets from Shoretrips.com for 40 dollars each. If you are drinkers, this is a good deal. My wife had about three drinks, and I had .. um.. several.. :D The beach is nice and clean, the food at the buffet was good, the staff was friendly. If you book through Carnival, it will cost you 170.00 for two. The only advantage to Carnival is that they provide transportation (30 dollars via taxi R/T if you go on your own, no exceptions) to the beach and also umbrellas (3 bucks to rent at Playa Mia).

Food: Fries, Carne Assada, Tortillas, Chips, Guacamole, Salsa, Fish, Rice, Beans, Salad, Chicken, etc...

Drinks: Bottled water, Rum and Punch, Margaritas, Pina Coladas, Straight Rum and Tequila (not top shelf, but not swill either), Sol and Corona on tap, Sprite, Pepsi and Diet Pepsi, all included.

Massage: 75 for an hour, 40 for thirty mins.

Water trampoline: Included

Snorkel gear: Included

Beach towel: Bring your own

Cuban Cigars: Ten bucks each, not fake either :)

Hope this helps!
