Response from Costa for 4/16 cruise...

To everyone on Deck 7, I am in contact with Debbie Pierce, lead agent of Costa guest relations regarding the 4-16,2006 cruise.

She responds promptly to any concerns.. You can email her at pierce@us.costa.it.

If anyone was unfortunate to be on Deck 7 with me, you'll understand what this is about.

Hi,

I was on that "problem filled" 4/16 sailing also. What happened on deck 7 was only 1 major problem with that cruise. There were so many other issues that Costa should offer refunds on part of our cruise! I'm curious how did you get in touch with her or did somebody from Costa finaly catch wind of all of these threads concerning that 4/16 sailing. What has she told you? Is Costa going to send you a $25 gift certificate good in one of there shops??????? You will be lucky if you even get that!

Most people only get one large vacation a year, if they're lucky, that they spend a lot of money on. While I don't want to open a can of worms - if there were major problems on the cruise that were not resolved, then yes - I agree that they should be asking for some money back...

I agree with what the other person replied to your thread! Well at least time and $ is something I value very much and work hard for a vacation every couple of years so when a product does not live up to it's expectations somebody should know about it as well offer something! It seems like that does not bother you as much but I think you should really spend more time with your "spell checker"!!

talking about monitary reparations only makes you guys seam like you're only in it, or only complaining to get something out of it.

If you weren't on Deck 7 on the April 16th cruise you really have no business about any of our motives.

A. I NEVER mentioned anything about money involved.

B. If your vacation was ruined by drunk, fighting vandals every night you might think differently.

C. At the very least Costa should have ensured the safety of the passengers..this didn't happen and is simply unacceptable.

humph, guess i dont fully comprehend the scope of the situation on 4/16

sorry i'm a terrible speller, and i dont use spell checker, but looks like you understood my post 100% so deal with it

chris, my monitary post was in response to "Is Costa going to send you a $25 gift certificate good in one of there shops??????? "

good luck, i hope this situation gets resolved to the point where you and your fellow passengers are happy and content. however it appears that none of you will be traveling costa ever again so they might be hard up to give you something in return.

good luck! let us know how it turns out.

Jim, time to walk a mile in the other guys dck sandels (I don't use spell check either :)). It seems obvious to me by now that this is not just 1 poster complainng about not getting a towel animal.

Some things happened on that deck and on that cruise that is serious cause for concern. Consider all of the different people that have posted and then consider also that most of the poeple on that deck never heard of cruisecritic and you start to wonder if Costa could have handled the situation better at the time, and certainly afterward.

You have read all the posts on this cruise. Suppose that had been your cruise and your deck instead of our cruise or Mondello's cruise?

IMO the statement about the $25 gift certificate had nothing to do about money but frustration in not getting a response from Costa.

Hi Jeff, Thank you for being the voice of reason in a sea of madness. I see you are yet again wading into hostile waters, playing peacemaker and spreading calm. JimmyJoeTrizeo (Jude, short for J dude), is the Costa board sheriff. Kind of like Boss Hogg, lovable but inept. J'ude, chill out a little. Choose your words wisely and pick the battles you can win. We already know that you would have loved to have confronted the punks that caused a litany of nightly problems on the 4/16 sailing. You are a prolific poster on this board and it will be a shame to eventually lose you to the Carnival board. I read one of your posts recently that was very well written and it seemed like you actually took the time and effort to eloquently make your point. BTW, there is no i in money nor monetary.

Jim has been and continues to be a very good poster. He has gone out of his way to help people on this board.

But the 4/16 cruise is a different issue. Unless we were there we can only formulate opinions based on what is posted. Nobody that was in that area at that time has posted that there were no problems, as far as I know. Ships are like small cities. If you are on a different deck or part of the ship you can be oblivious to anything going on somewhere else and think it was a terrific cruise.

Costa is one of my favourite Cruise Line and I have not had any problems with them. However reading about what happened on the 4/16 cruise is not acceptable. Costa's main obligation is to provide a safe, enjoyable and uneventful cruise, something I gather from all the posters it did not provide. Having a whole deck put at risk and having their enjoyablity cut by young thuds is something Costa should address promptly. When I read the posts about how those young thuds got away with what they did only made my blood boil. I will be checking in on all the posters to see what resolve Costa puts on the table. I will send an e-mail to Costa even though I was not on that cruise and hope everyone else does as well.

Hope Costa steps up to the plate!

  • 2 weeks later...

 Was just wondering if anyone who contacted Costa about the 4/16 sailing has received any kind of response. I was the one who posted email address. I have not received an email or letter back. I will keep emailing

to see if I can get one back. Please let me know through this thread if anyone has accomplished anything.

I was on the real Costa Cruise fom hell. April 2005, out of control teens, Prank phone calls all night, banging on the doors, trashing the pizza area one night, asked to leave the disco at midnight, teens got pissed and broke the glass door, emptied the garbage into the pools at night, ripped the wallpaper off the walls in the lifts, and the list goes on and on. When Costa desk was called we were told they are doing their best to control these kids. They were never controled. Last night the switched the color tags on our floor with another floor.

I wrote to costa after our cruise, recived a phone call back. I was happy they called. I never asked for anything, why should I. I slept there for 7 nights and ate the food.

What are you looking for that you won't let it go. What do you want. Money, free cruise, you have to be looking for something.

We all work hard for our money.

You should have done your homework and read all the reviews about Costa, not believed the handful of costa lovers here.

I was in a suite, I paid less for a Costa Suite than for my Celeberty ocean view. I went cheap, I got cheap. I got the Costa cruise from hell.

I'm starting to think you people cruise so you can see what you can get back for complaining. Move on.

There was 1 person who complained, 5 others than jump on the band wagon.

Lets hear from the other 2000. Another, lets see what Costa puts on the table.

I'm happy to say that I have had several responses from Costa regarding my concerns on the 4/16 cruise. Among other things, I received what I was looking for... An apology and a committment from Costa to do better next time.

How dare anyone think that I want ANYTHING from Costa other then more safety for future cruisers. I have no alternative motive other then to make

their cruise a safer one. Obviously if in 2005 they had the same things happening and nothing has changed someone is still not doing enough to make a difference.

Hello,

I just joined Cruise Critics and found your message about deck 7 on Costa Magica. We are thinking bout taking Costa Magica to Bermuda next April (07) So we have lots of time. I keep reading such negative comments about Magica. What was the problem when you sailed on her? We have only been one other cruise - Grand Princess - fabulous.

I know everyone makes their own good time but, can you help with any other comments? Not too concerned about Bermuda just the ship itself.

We will be celebrating our 40 wedding anniversary, That's why we want to go back to Bermuda (our honeymoon spot).

Costa is the only line that sails from Florida to Bermuda (Fl being our state.)

Thanks!!!!

Carolann

Don't fret over the ship itself..it's beautiful! As a previous Princess cruiser myself, the food on the Magica is about 1/2 the quality of Princess. With that said..I managed to eat and gain so just know what to expect. Some things good, others average. Breakfast buffet exactly the same every day. Charged for cappucino at dinner. SMALL portions at dinner, esp if you don't want all 5 courses.

I think our situation was somewhat unusual on the April 16th cruise. We unfortunately had a large group of hoodlums that literally terrorized and destroyed our floor each night. The sad fact is that NOTHING was ever done to stop it (I.E. make them get off ship). For a night or 2 "security" was stationed on our floor to no avail. Our poor room steward admitted he was frightened as they ransacked his trolley and he was left to pay $100 out of his own pocket to cover the liquor they stole.

This, of course, led to many, many angry passengers.

Hopefully this won't be a recurring situation..if you understand that it won't be a "Princess Cruise" you'll be fine.

I was on the 7th floor and had my husband, my 17 year old and his 18 year old friend and three younger sons w/ us. We lost sleep, were too tired to participate in many activitiesand couldn't let our oldest and his friend go to the teen club as these "kids" were truly out of control. They were right next door to our son's room. We had a suite and two inside cabins and paid mucho $$ compared to many of the clients (who had the kids go free package). Have contacted Costa and they said they have communicated again to their sales offices (the one in Mexico booked that group of hoodlums) that no one under 25 is to be in a cabin without an adult. At any rate, overall the cruise was fine except for that incident. At that price point, we had a great time and our kids truly loved the experience. Had sailed RCL 2x and NCL 1x before. NCL was horrible in comparison and their food wasn't up to the level of Magica's. Took NCL to Alaska and loved the itinerary, but would give NCL 3/10 stars. Even w/ the craziness, prefer Magica. (That's how bad it was ). I took the time to write a letter detailing our experiences and followed up w/ a phone call directly to them (asked for the manager of the dept.) and was satisfied w/ result given verbally but am waiting for it in writing. Will keep all posted.
