Has anyone out there done the Infiniti from Honolulu to Ensanada with air from LAX? I'd like to find out how Celebrity gets you back to LAX from Ensanada. What time did you get in to LAX?

Thanks,

You should get bussed directly from Ensenada to LAX. I'm pretty sure you'll one of the first groups off the ship.

I've only flown back from SAN so I can't tell you what time you should at LAX.

We have done the Ensenada-San Diego transfer twice from Infinity. Both times it was handled very poorly by Celebrity and their agents. Took much longer than necessary due to poor planning. On one occasion several of the buses did not have the proper insurance to cross the border. On the other trip someone incorrectly (Celebrity) determined all baggage had to be removed from busses to go through customs. Resulted in a line for customs that had to have been 1000' long. Baggage compartments had been sealed to prevent this. Both times required 2-3 hours to get across the border. Many folks missed their flights. IMHO, all could have been prevented with a little planning and organization. Hopefully much has been learned from these snafu's. It was an unfortunate end to a couple of great cruises.

Hope it's much smoother for you.

Well, I've only gone Ensenada-San Diego ex Mercury in Oct.2001 from Honolulu - Celebrity had us tagged by bus along with our luggage. It worked like a charm, we blew through the Border, actually ended up on an earlier flight & were home in Bellevue by 1:00pm.

YMMV

Border crossings (Canada and Mexico) have become increasingly more difficult since 9/11. Don't plan an early flight. On a good day, San Diego to LAX is a 2.5 hour drive.. throw in the 90 miles from Ensenada to San Diego and the border..well, I always say, hope for the best, plan for the worst.

We too were on the Mercury in October 2001. This was right after Sept. 11. I remember some buses had to have everyone take their luggage off. We were not one of those buses. Our bus stopped at the border, we all got off went thru customs and went to the bathroom and got back on the busses. The only thing is that we had to get up very early to get off the boat. We got to the airport early and tried to get an earlier flight. We were waitlisted and then we could not get on. Made our original flight. When we arrived at Newark there was no luggage. Something got screwed up but we got the luggage the next day delivered to our door. The only bad thing is that when we flew out of San Diego we flew over the Mercury in the harbor taking on passengers for the canal transit. Kept thinking if not for that Jones Act they could have left us off in San Diego. Pat
