Thanks, i had seen that book mentioned, and had considered picking up a copy. But after reading some of the book reviews, was uncertain of it's helpfulness. Some said it contained more about "rendezvous", rather then cruise life. ...But guess i will just check it out :)

Just a bit of info, from what I have heard, you are charged for cappuccino now in the dinning room on alot of the ships. Maybe others will please let us know which ships are charging.

I just came off the Carnival Legend on 1 Nov and asked for a cappuccino after every mean in the dining room and was not charged.

My experience has always been that the kids get charged for pop - even during dinner. If they ask for you S&S card, you are getting charged - guaranteed!

I just noticed my signature line - still over 140 days to wait until our cruise on the Dream...WAY TOO LONG! :( I think we might need to find something sooner for just me and the missus?

So, what is the OBC bonus for being a shareholder? And do you need to be a shareholder prior to booking the trip, or can I still buy the stock now to get the bonus? I think I posted this earlier, but it may not have taken...thanks!

We Just came back froma cruise on The Valor..just last week. You cannot order an extra meal without being charged for it. The meal we had was the best steak I ever tasted...a 24oz Porterhouse. my wife had the surf and turf and found the half lobster tail kind of tough and not too tasty. The lobster we had in the dining room was listed as Miane Lobster and it was great. The one in the supper club just said Lobster tail, and I think it was a rock lobster from Africa...it wasn't very good. The meal was great however, and well worth the $30 per person.

Hello All,

I've read through who knows how many pages of this thread and near the beginning, I read that you can order several items off the main menu in places like the Supper Club where you pay $30 for dinner. Those posts were from several years ago, and I haven't seen anything mentioned about this being mentioned recently. Has anyone that has been to the Supper Club (on Conquest) ordered the steak and also the lobster (or two deserts, etc)? My wife and I are sailing Conquest on 12/06/09 and are getting very excited.

Thanks for your help,

DonnaD...Not to worry. There is most definitely a deli on the Sensation, unless they removed it in the past 3 weeks! It is in the back of the Seaview Grill (cafeteria kind of restaurant) on the Lido deck. It is right next to the Pizza counter. I actually had the Reuben one day & it was DELISH! Much better than some of the not-so-great food offered in the buffet line. Have Fun!

Oh, one other tip (if you want to call it that). You can go to your dining room any time of day & "scan" the menu for that night. It's posted at the entrance to the dining room & I just loved going there & checking on the offerings for that night. I would be sitting at the pool thinking about what I was going to order that night! Yumm!

On the Splendor, you can go on your Telly, under guest services, & check out the menu in your room too-they weren't posted at the Dining rooms.

Well it took me several days but I actually read through all 135 pages. Wow!

My tips (some may be repeats) that I found most helpful:

The lanyard in the casino

The free playing cards at guest services

You can check out board games from the library to play

Sometimes if you ask the photo people they will "bundle" photos and give you a better deal

Going to Nassau Bahamas, any suggestions about the Atlantis Excursions? If it's worth it? The "day pass" is $125 per person, but i guess you have access to all the water slides, and what not. If your only in port for the day, is this time and money well spent?

Don't know if this qualifies as an actual "cruise" question or not

...but any thoughts on underwater cameras? Never been snorkeling, so we want to take the snorkeling excursion, and want nice pics. Any suggestions as to what brand waterproof camera to get? ...or other snorkeling suggestions?

This may be a contrarian idea, but you may want to leave the camera on board. I have never done "real" snorkeling, but twice at Disney World I did the snorkeling experience at their water park. The first time I had a camera, and I had a miserable time and didn't really see anything as I was too focused on trying to capture a picture, none of which really turned out. The second time a couple of years later I just enjoyed the experience. On a longer snorkel it may not be as big of a deal as you can enjoy the experience and then really pause to frame a particular shot.

Disposable waterproof cameras are the affordable option, but the picture quality isn't that great and it is sometimes difficult to frame your photo.

I own a Canon PowerShot A610 camera and purchased a separate accessory for the water. WP-DC90 Digital Camera Waterproof Case. This was a few years ago, so I can't help you with prices. The case is rated to 40 meters or 130 feet and it has a diffusion screen to help spread around the light from the flash. With the LCD display screen it is much easier to frame the shot. It is somewhat awkward to use the buttons to change features, so you may want to have your camera settings taken care of before the dive.

Good luck and have fun!

Not sure if this happens all the time but the last night of our Imagination cruise we went right before they were closing the photo section to pick up a photo that we ordered. We noticed them taking all the photos down and asked to go through ours once again. We found them and asked what was going to happen to all the old photos and the attendant just handed us all of our other photos and said "There now they are recycled" and winked. So for the price of one over priced photo we got an amazing pictorial of our honeymoon.

What?!! No deli??? I keep hearing folks rave about the rueben sandwiches, and I thought on the Sensation. Man, I had the whole family worked up and ready for ruebens. I would swear I have read about them in some reviews. Was I just hallucinating cornbeef?

We were on the Sensation last March, and I had the best Reuben I have ever placed in my mouth! The sandwich station is located by the pizza place, aft on lido deck. Don't miss the reuben!

Hazelnutt46,

We've taken some great pics with disposable underwater cameras, but now I have an Olympus Stylus 1050SW. It's small, takes great pics, and (best of all), doesn't require any kind of underwater housing! You can take it underwater just as it is for up to an hour or so, then just rinse it off & let it dry. I've used it a lot snorkeling in Hawaii & it's great.

(NOTE: sorry to post this in the "tips" thread, but I didn't know how else to answer Hazelnutt46's question, since it was posted here.)

I've had the Reuben on the Elation, Sprit and Conquest and all were excellent. I have to have at least one a day. Looking forward to having a few on the Ecstacy in about 3 weeks:D

We just returned from Hawaii on the Spirit, and had great luck with the

Intova EC600. it is a small regular little 6MP camera which comes with a waterproof case. Check Amazon.com for prices around $110. Would recommend also buying the flash diffuser for $6.

Where can you get the type of laynard that has the clear plastic cover to put your S&S card in or do they not sell those on the ship?

On my past two cruises with Carnival, aboard the Valor and Freedom, when you tender to a port that has Del Sol, they usually give you one of two coupons: either a free tote bag or a free lanyard.

Ask or look for the lanyard one. It has the plastic sleeve you want and the lanyard is color activated .

Hope this helps

It's not on the deli menu but they make great grill cheese sandwiches. Just make sure they keep them on the grill long enough.
