Has anyone ever rented a car for a day in Aruba and toured the island on their own? We will be stopping there for a day and wondered if this might be an option. Is there enough to see touring for a day or is it wiser to take a tour for half a day and then just do the shopping thing in Oranjestad? Any advice would be appreciated.

For a full day of touring with a car, I would say that if you were going to make some stops for snorkeling, it would be well worth while. Otherwise, I would just take a half day tour to see the highlights of the island and then have the afternoon free for shopping or the beach.
