Just back from the Enchantment - mini review

Recommended Posts

Just got back to Atlanta this afternoon.

Great cruise! Only our second on RCCL and we thought the crew on the Enchantment did a great job. Matt Baker (yeah baby) was probably the best Cruise Director we have encountered. He does the best Austin Powers this side of Mike Meyers.

Good news for those of you cruising the Enchantment...the Beatles tribute bank was on board.

The food was very good. Maybe just a notch below what we have had on Princess, but not much. And believe it or not, one of our group, who is not a very adventurous diner had the "ranch steak" each night and said it was very good.

The ship is showing it's age just a bit, but still looks good.

I have to agree with others, the layout of the Windjammer creates very bad traffic flow.

Two plugs for tours from us. Rather than bar hop or shop in Key West, we did a mangrove / snorkle tour in a two person speed boat. It was great! I found the place on the internet. It's called "Jungle Tours". We took a taxi to their marina. Did a 2-1/2 hour tour and returned to town for a little shopping.

In Cozumel, we got off the ship, took a taxi to Paradise Beach. Stayed til mid afternoon, then went into town to shop. The beach is free and includes chairs / unbrellas, and some water toys.

Now, it's time to plan next years cruise.

You will see pretty much the same shops you see in every Caribbean port. We actually got the best deals on local "stuff" at the shops right at the pier. We checked prices as we went through the mini-mall. Then compared in town.

Thanks for the review. I have been on the Enchantment before, hopefully it is not showing it's age too badly. I know it will be in for a stretching next year, so I hope they don't let it run down too badly! I don't see too many reviews for this short cruise, so I appreciate yours! Thank you for the cue to something different to do in Key West. Also, have you been to Chankanaab Park in Cozumel? If so, how does Paradise Beach rate in comparison? Thanks again.

We are going to Cayman Islands and Jamaica too. We are on the same ship? Are you going with any kids? We're taking our two sons, 17 and 12 and we're going with another couple and their two sons, 17 and 13. We're from New York. Where are you from?

Majesty of the Seas 3/02

Monarch of the Seas 3/03

Serenade of the Seas 11/03

Was this the 4 day. leaving July 1st???

We also just returned from this cruise. We had absolutley no complaints on this cruise. Service was great...oh no even can't say a bad thing about the food.

This was the first cruise that I was on that I had my hair done for formal, and no sales pitch to buy products.....WOW

The grand suite, was just that, "grand". Both Hubby and I walked off this ship happy cruisers. I would not hesitate to cruise the Enchantment again.

Last day was a sea day, and in abut 2 hours I ended up with a very bad sunburn...could not even go to dinner. So when they say use sunscreen...listen.

right now my face is peeling pretty bad...I look horrible!!!!

Happy sailing everybody.

Hi MsWeezie,

We're on Deck 3 outside cabin. We always make sure to stay low down because sometimes I get seasickness. This is our fourth cruise and the boys second cruise. They loved it the first time we took them so we decided to take them again. You and your kids are going to love it!

MsWeezie-

I forgot to mention. If your kids sign up for the Ocean Adventure Program your children might be in the same group as mine. The age groups are 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17. They really enjoyed that program. They have games and different activities for the kids and they win prizes.

Hi Lauren:

Haver you ever been on any of the ships that are similar to the enchantment? What dinner seating are u at? My friend recommended we take the late, which we chose. Are there also shows or events after the second dinner do you know?

Hi MsWeezie:

We've been on radiance class ships but not vision class which the Enchantment is. As for size, the Enchantment is around the same size as our first two cruises on the Majesty and Monarch. Our last cruise on the Serenade, the ship was a little bigger. Since this is your first cruise, you will be amazed when you pull up to the ship at how big it looks, its amazing! It's very exciting. We have early seating. When my husband and I cruised alone we did late seating but with the kids we picked early seating. We find there seems to be more kids and families at early seating plus this way right after dinner we go directly to see the shows. At late seating, we saw the shows before dinner. Any more questions, please feel free to ask me.

Lauren
