trish1c Posted July 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2004 Periodically I see posts here asking about NYC taxis. I picked up a pamplet yesterday while I was in one, so I thought I'd share: LGA to Manhatten: the meter runs: usually about $24-$30, plus tolls & tip LGA to EWR approx. $63-67 plus $15 surcharge There's a flat fee of $45 plus tolls & tip to Manhatten from JFK. There's a $1 peak time surcharge on weekdays from 4-8 pm There's a $0.50 surcharge from 8 pm to 6 am If you want to go elsewhere outside the NYC limits you have to negotiate the fare w/ the driver before the trip starts. There is a pamphlet you can get before you get in the cab with all of this info. Hope this helps some out of towners.

Jane110 Posted July 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2004 Trish, These new taxi fares are killing us NYer's! Taxi's are now about 50-70% more. I just wanted to clarify one thing that might not be clear to readers. $1.00 peak time surcharge from 4:00-8:00PM $.50 surcharge from 8:00-PM to 6:00AM Just so people understand. If you get into a taxi at 8:00PM, the surcharge is $.50, it's not $.50 Plus $1.00. Hence, if you're getting into a taxi at 7:59PM, you'll pay a $1.00 surcharge. If you get in at 8:01PM, the surcharge drops down to 50 cents. It's calculated from the time the meter goes on. Jane
