Has anyone sailed since the new travel regulations??

Hi there.... just wondering if anyone has returned from a cruise since last weeks events? If so, did you have any problems getting off the ship? My parents just ran into someone who returned from a RCL cruise at Port Canaveral yesterday. The person told them it took them nearly 5-6 hours to get off the ship and they made her throw away her perfume, liquor and mouthwash..... this person was driving home from the port so she didn't have any flight to deal with.

I'm sailing out of Tampa in 3 weeks on Carnival so I'm curious. I've checked the Carnival website and it just says:

"Guests will not be prohibited from bringing liquid-based items, such as shampoo, gels, lotions, etc. onboard our ships. However, per normal procedures, all guests and luggage, both checked and carry-on, are 100 percent security screened prior to boarding the ship. We do not anticipate the need to make any changes to the scheduled departure times for our cruises."

Just wondering if anyone has returned since the latest terrorist threat and what experiences they have had. Thank you in advance.

We just flew home Saturday from Orlando after our Glory cruise out of Cape Canaveral.

We were on the road in our rental car by 10:00 a.m. Our flight was at 5:50, so we had plenty of time to linger in Cocoa Beach and eat a leisurely lunch.

We got to the airport fairly early, at around 3:30. I had packed this way:

I carried on my purse, which contained chapstick and a lipstick, otherwise nothing liquid. I also carried on a bag which had some souvenirs that were not liquid.

We packed our liquid purchases, which was bay rum cologne, in our checked bag. I put it in the middle of our dirty clothes so it wouldn't break. I checked a total of four bags, which included our shampoos, hair gels, toothpaste, etc. and all of my make-up.

We had no trouble at all. They even let my chapstick and lipstick go on with me.

We flew out on time, and arrived in Nashville early.

At the Orlando International airport, while we were waiting, we got to talking with a British family. They had a nine-hour flight ahead of them, and he had gotten very sick over their two-week Disney vacation and spent three days in the hospital. They were letting him carry a small bag with his medication in it. That was it.

So, we had no problems at all. Just check all of your liquid/gel items, but be aware of the weight limit, 50 pounds, and bag limit, which is two per person.

Throwing things away to get OFF the ship makes no sense whatsoever. We were on a cruise when the new security measures went into place. We had to adjust our luggage for the return flight home, not for disembarking the ship. We just put our liquid based products in carry on.

I totally agree... making people throw things to get OFF the ship made no sense to me either... that's why I was curious about what others experienced.... I MAY (and by MAY, I do mean MAY.....) understand if the person getting off the cruise was catching a flight and the flight was booked with the cruiseline. However, this woman told my folks that she had to throw away the stuff and she was driving home so there was no flight involved. I just figured it couldn't hurt to ask here - I sure would hate to buy stuff on board the ship or at port only to have it thrown away getting off the ship!

We had a very easy disembarkation off the Fascination Friday. The easiest, fastest one ever. There was no screening of bags, no lines, just checking out with our Sign and Sail card. We even blew through customs. It was still the usual rules about one bottle of liquor per adult, etc.

I'd take that story with a grain of salt.

We're just off Inspiration 8/10 and I carried off contact lens drops, sun tan lotion (we were oblivious to what happened as there is no "bad news" in Paradise!). We had no problem leaving the ship at 8:30 am.

we boarded a plane Friday at 5:40pm. We got there really early (3:30) but had dumped all the liquid/gel stuff into the checked baggage. We had no problem at the Tampa airport, either. We were seated at our gate by 3:50. Everyone was nice. I did have a purse and carry on (for camera and magazines), and they checked both, but quickly and efficiently. I appreciate their good work.;)

We just got home sunday from sailing on the destiny. Just put all liquids and gels and paste in checked baggage and you should not have a problem. We were off the ship by 9am. Security line at San Juan airport was long. TSA went thru everyones carryons. But everything went smoothly.

We got off the Triumph in Miami on Saturday. Except for a bit longer wait for Customs to let us start debarkation, you couldn't tell that things were any different. When we got to Miami airport it was a breeze to go through security. Another nice thing we noticed is that the overhead bins are mostly empty!

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with purchased

rum bought on the ship? That is a liquid carry on. so how do you

pack it and check it without it breaking all over your clothes?

I love to bring home cruzan rum.

They will pack it in a heavy duty cardboard carrier. Wrap some clothes around that in your suitcase and it'll be fine.
