St. Thomas - Crown Bay Cruise Ship Terminal

My t/a called Princess about Crown Bay docking and they told her the 9-30-06 cruise which docks on 10-3 in St Thomas is docking at Havensight....I hope so !!!!!!!!!!!

This (http://www.*****/general_usvi/cruiseship/cruise_2006/STT-Oct.php) would indicate otherwise (ie. the stop on 10-3 docks at Crown Bay).

Wonder who's right? With Princess Customer Service's record lately, I'm thinking the VI website is!

  • 8 months later...

With all the so called millions of Dollars spent it seems like NJ MA and NY with nothing done for all those Dollars spent..

Why doesn't Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. just provide transport Downtown and they will get morte revenues back from the vendors they have ..

Oh well maybe too simple..eh..

Well then give me $2,000,000 .00 USD.... 2 million dollar retainer for a study done..

Stupid question time -- where is Crown Bay in relation to Havensight?

If the Crown Bay shopping complex is scheduled to open in November (when has anything ever opened on time...so it'll be much later) but the CB will be docking there starting in October ... will we have no "at dock" shopping facilities til it opens?

Crown Bay Dock is West of Charlotte Amalie going towards the airport. The shoping at Crown Bay is in no way close to that at Havensight. Suggest you go to town if you want to shop.

we were lucky enough on our cruise earlier this year on the Star to be docked in Havensight...apparently the Ruby and another ship was in Crown Bay. The big "plus" for us is that from Havensight you can easily walk into town-there are sidewalks the entire way and it is quite pleasant. Haven't been in Crown Bay now for a couple of years----don't think walking is an option and I won't walk without sidewalks or a wide shoulder on the road.

There are sidewalks into town from Crown Bay also & it's just a little longer walk. Actually if you don't mind walking to the beach, it is more convenient than Havensight although the shopping is extremely limited if you are into that sort of thing. What would be great is if they would set up a flea market area, similar to the one in town for crafts, shirts, etc, although the taxi cab companies & shop owners would probably fight it to the death. At least the people would have some shopping options closer to the ship.

Right. Will have to go further to get to Diamonds International.

We like docking at Crown Bay because it is within walking distance to Emerald Beach. It's a long walk, but we've done it several times. We don't care to walk into town because we've been there and don't need anything they have.

If our itinerary had a long time in St. Thomas, I'd love to go back to St. Johns.

Any reason not to walk into downtown CA from Crown Bay?

We did walk from Crown Bay once in 2007. It took about 40 minutes to walk to Paradise Point which is close to Havensight. We took a taxi back to the ship and it took 45 minutes, because of traffic. You walk part of the way along a very busy road.

Saw this article in today's Virgin Islands Daily News. Apparently Princess has executed a 10 year agreement to bring the Caribbean, Crown and Sun exclusively to the Crown Bay Terminal. See the link below.

Wondering how this will effect the Emerald. Cruising in March 2012 and wondering where we will dock?

Just so you know, this thread was started years ago......you might be at either dock, or as we were on the Emerald this past March, anchored off of downtown

Where exactly is Crown Bay? On the other side of the island? We will be there on the Crown the first week of October. Why would Princess agree to this if it is a long cab ride to anywhere?

Here is a picture I took in April of the Emerald Princess (close) at Havensight and Ruby Princess (far/top left corner) at Crown Bay...

Oh, thanks Marc. Didn't realize that. Guess we'll just have to find out when we get there. But, I hope it's Havensight! One can always hope. It's getting closer!!! Can't wait.
