Road to Hana Lunch Question

Ok, we are planning on doing the Road to Hana the 2nd day. I have picked out several places we want to visit and then head back to the ship. We will have breakfast on the ship before we leave, and I don't really want to take lunch and leave it in the car until we are hungry....are there any places along the way to stop and eat a late lunch...I didn't see any in the Revealed Book.

Thanks

Letha

When we did the road to Hana last fall, we decided we take time to stop and enjoy rather than making the whole trip since we had been to Hana before. SO, we took the side road down to the Keane Peninsula. On that road we spotted a little banana bread stand. Their bread was delicious and warm, so we bought some and continued on that road down to the end and ate it while we parked and enjoyed the gorgeous oceanfront area with the black rocks, huge breaking waves right in front of us. There were decent restrooms where we parked as well. It was just a beautiful place to watch the ocean. There was a school yard adjacent to this area.

We stopped at Halfway to Hana for Hawaiian ice and banana bread. Be warned the hawaiian ice is huge. There is also a barbeque place mentioned in Maui Revealed that was really crowded. I don't remember the name. If you like coconut, you have to try the baked coconut from the stand next to the barbeque place. It was great.

We ate lunch at Tutu's Snack Shack at Hana Bay. I don't know what their hours are. The food was ok (burgers and fries) but the bay is beautiful. It is also written up in Maui Revealed and by Rachel Ray for $40 a day : )

Have a great time. I loved the drive and would do it again.

I did a bit of seaching on the internet from "Splinter's list" and found a restaurant/coffee shop cafe that has a menu on-line and offers BOXED LUNCHES to-go.

Check out their menu. Nothing special, but it will satisfy, and some coffee, too! We're planning on stopping here in March.
