coolssb Posted August 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I have read several reveiws lately that were not so great for the Glory. Has anyone sailed her lately? If so I would appreciate info. Also who is the Cruise Director for the Western Cruise? Thanks!!!!
gypsyrose Posted August 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2006 Seemed like before our Glory cruise, everything I read was negative, I was so worried. And all for nothing, could not find anything to complain about. Beautiful ship, great staff, comfy beds. The cd was Mark Price and he was really good. I think he is still there. Relax, go with a positive attitude and you will have a great time.
elon mom Posted August 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2006 Just got back from Eastern on Aug 12- Mark Price was really good we thought as CD. There was something to do all the time. We had a really great time despite what some of the reviews lately have said. Someone even complained of the weather and I thought one afternoon at sea with some showers was not bad for sailing during hurrican season which is a chance you take. The way that I look at is- a cruise is better than work any day. My family had a great time!!! Go with an open mind and have fun!
osiebosie Posted August 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I don't really recall many bad reviews. There was one, but the guy finally admitted it wasn't really a bad cruise. We just got off of the Glory Eastern cruise on the 12th. It was a great cruise. We did have rain one day, but it was after a very sunny morning, so no complaints there. Probably saved us from being overly sunburned! Yes, Mark Price is the cd. I never pay alot of attention to the cds. They don't make or break my cruise. I usually just watch all of the meetings on tv. He's funny; we laughed out loud at his jokes. The Glory is a beautiful ship, and the cabin was nice. The bed was awesome. Slept like a baby after the first couple of nights, and when people weren't loud at the door. Food was good. Ports were good. I don't have any complaints at all. Oh, there were some, but none really worth mentioning. You'll have a great cruise. Shay
dst Posted August 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I was on the Glory in May with my mom on the Western route. The ship is beautiful and the only complaint I would have about the ship was that the only floor that runs from one end of the ship to the other is the 5th. If you remember that and get use to having the ship split (meaning you hvae to up and down some floors in order to get to certain areas of the ship) You will enjoy your cruise. Mark was the CD on our cruise but as someone else said I very rarely use the CD and pay very little attention to them. The staff was wonderful and we loved our cabin, the cabins are normal size and the beds were very comfy.... I read reveiws and pay attention to the specifics of a ship but I have never let a review ruin a good time :) Have fun,

We have a tour booked with Godfrey and he's supposed to pick us up at the dock at 10am. Thanks!!

Actually, once you get used to things its easy to get around. Here are you helpful hints (at least for this ship): 1 - cabin numbers increase as you head to back of ship so easy to always figure out which direction to go. 2 - Elevators ding once if they are going up and twice if going down. That helps when you're standing there and there are 4 to 10 elevators and you have to figure out which one just opened. Doug
Zyzygy Posted August 20, 2006 #17 Share Posted August 20, 2006 We did Glory Western Caribbean July29-Aug 5 and really enjoyed it. I submitted a lengthy member review to CC but they never posted it in the "reviews" section. I also posted it on this board. Once you get used to reading between the lines in the reviews you can tell the difference between the malcontents and those who want to enjoy themselves. frmjersey Posted August 21, 2006 #22 Share Posted August 21, 2006 We are just back yesterday. The whole trip was great. Food was wonderful, contrary to rumors, the comedians were hilarious. Mark Price is the cruise director and he was funny as was his assistant. The teenagers especially loved him.. I would go on Glory again in a heartbeat. osiebosie Posted August 21, 2006 #23 Share Posted August 21, 2006 Tocruzagain, The immigration procedure before St Thomas was a bit of a pain, but they called the tours off first. Be SURE to bring your passport or birth certificate and driver's license and s/s card. They will announce this continually. The line is long, but goes fairly quickly, but if you don't have a passport you may want to take your paperwork back up to your cabin before leaving. We don't do tours, so we just meandered through the line after the tour people did. It took a couple of hours for us to get off of the ship. Docked at 8, off at nearly 10. Two hours lost :( at St. Thomas. Sorry so long for the reply. Went out of town. I hope you get this in time. Shay
ikitakunai Posted August 21, 2006 #24 Share Posted August 21, 2006 I hear the Piano Bar has been empty the last few cruises? I leave this Sat.. We stopped in the piano bar for a very short time during the Captin's Cocktail Party. There was a woman with a kind of scraggily voice in there singing and playing and only about 8 other guests scattered about.
