Need Info on CARNIVAL FANTASY

I am looking to get some information on Carnival Fantasy. Looking at November cruise out of New Orleans for my friends 50th. Only looking for a long weekend getaway and this fits the schedule. There will be 2 or 3 couples who have sailed on larger Carnival, Royal Carribean and Princess. I'm a little concerned about the size and age of the ship. Any help on this please.

hi DKS- welcome!

Best place to start would be to sign up on the carnival.com website. All kinds of info including sail dates! And of course for those "extra" questions that you cant get answered from there- we are here!

Have a GREAT day

As you can see, the "tell me about - - " type of posts don't give a lot of details. Start by using the search forum link and looking for "fantasy review", you will get much more information that way getting it yourself.

Thanks everyone. I will try a search. I checked the roll calls and read a few reviews there as well. Just concerned about possible musty smell and such. I read that it was refurbished though.

Thanks again, as always cruise critics come through.

Diane,

We will be on her Oct 30th through Nov 4th. The ship is still a decent size vessel. 855 feet in length, 920 staff, 2052 guests. It is the same size as the Elation, Ecstasy, Fascination, Imagination, Inspiration, Paradise, and Sensation. About 100 feet shorter than the Conquest.

The Nov 4th and 13th 5-day cruises are cheaper than the Nov 9th 4-day cruise.

We were on Fantasy last Nov a month or so after her refurbishment. That was a 4 day out of Port Canaveral. There was no musty smell and we had a great time. The ship was very clean and we didn't have any complaints.

You can also find numerous reviews in the "Reviews" section of this website. Click the Reviews link at the top of the page, select the Fantasy from the list of ships, then click on "member reviews" after you have been redirected to the Cruise Critic Review page for the Fantasy. Read their review first, then read all of ours.

Diane:

My family and I just got back from her last night. We had mom, dad, a ten year old daughter, and a thirteen year old son. (The house is still giving me a gentle rocking sensation!) I think you'll find the fantasy quite nice. Not as elegent or as new as some of the other ships, but we would have to really nitpick to find fault. Last week we had a full ship, which was 2600 passengers, and 900 crew members. I can't imagine calling that small! The service was excellent, the food was very good, our wait staff and stewards were great, we had good excursions, and we were very pleased all the way around.

We sailed the Fantasy for the third time in April of this year, after several years of sailing Destiny, Spirit and Conquest class ships. I was a little apprehensive in going back to an older ship, outside cabin, no balcony  It was one of our better cruises :) The ship is in great shape, just the right size and we honestly thought the service from the crew was much better than what we had become used to receiving on the larger ships. The cruise was so good - son and DIL are sailing next month and we've booked the Elation for January and if I could talk DH into it would book the Fantasy again before it leaves for NO.
