gearmanlisa Posted August 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I've planned a big mother/daughter trip for Spring Break, and guess where are cabins are - Deck 6! Exactly in the location where I'm reading there is a sewage smell problem. Can anyone give me any more info on this? Especially if and when RCCL is going to correct this. Are we sure that they are aware of it? I can't believe that no one has complained.
cb at sea Posted August 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2006 This seems to happen off and on on all the ships! Don't know why--and apparently, they don't either, or I'm sure they would fix this! We've had this problem on 2 of our cruises--lasted the entire trip.
cruisingator2 Posted August 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2006 Been on many ships and just about everyone of them has had this problem at some time during my cruise. Many times it is due to a passenger placing something down the system that should have been discarded in another way. The plumbing on a ship is very complicated and many folks either don't pay attention to what they're doing or just don't care. I would not worry about it. I was under the impression that it was from the newer concept of burning the waste as a way of ridding it from the ship. Read that they were perhaps extending stacks to try and relieve the problem. YoungPlatinumGuy Posted August 17, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 17, 2006 The smell is very prominent on FOS deck 6 starboard by the aft elevators.
gearmanlisa Posted August 17, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted August 17, 2006 The smell is very prominent on FOS deck 6 starboard by the aft elevators. That's what I keep reading, and that is where are cabins are going to be. I read on another thread that you experienced this first hand. When was this, and did you bring it to anyone with RCCL's attention during the cruise. If so, what was the response?
YoungPlatinumGuy Posted August 17, 2006 #10 Share Posted August 17, 2006 I just got off FOS last Sunday (sailed 8/6) and I stayed down the hall. It was pretty bad...5 of the 7 days my GF and I had to hold our noses on our way through the hallway. I can't speak for inside the room though. I brought some of those gel air fresheners for a buck a piece and they were great. Just check them in your luggage...no carry on!
