apetnutbeme1987 Posted August 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Have cruised on Carnival Fascination, but first time on Royal Caribbean. Seen somewhere that the rooms on Sovereign of the Seas are really small , just how small are these rooms, and what restaraunts do you have to pay for on RC? kittymom65 Posted August 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2006 The only pay restaurant on the Sovereign in Johnny Rockets, which is $3.95 per person, does not include Coke or milkshakes. The cabins on Sovereign are tiny.....My office here at work is 10x12, and I think the oceanview cabins on the Sovereign are about the same size (including bathroom). The good news is that you are not in your cabin much...:)
cruisegirl1 Posted August 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Kittymom is correct. The rooms are very small. Walk out 10X12 at home and lose about 1/4 to 1/3 for the closet and bathroom. We went last week. Friend said bathroom is wonderful for multi tasking – You can wash hands in sink, shave legs in shower and potty all at the same time. Ship is a great get away - with the friendliest staff and crew. M
cruiseapril Posted August 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2006 The cabins on Deck 9 are bigger (Superior Ocean View). We stayed in one in April and found the size very good for two people.
plantocruise Posted August 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2006 You could also book one of the new balcony cabins that were added when the ship was redone. I think they are the same size as the new ships because they were pre constructed and inserted into the space and then the balcony was welded on. Those cabins should be similar in size to a D1 which is about 185 sq feet plus about 48 sq ft for the balcony.
plantocruise Posted August 18, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2006 I meant to also add that the SOS is really a much prettier ship than the Carnival Fantasy class ships. The experience itself will be similar but the Sovreign is a pretty ship.
cruisegirl1 Posted August 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Plantocruie – I don’t believe the balcony CABINS are new – only the balconies. There were some pre-fab cabins added to deck 2 where the movie theater used to be. The balcony cabins are nice and roomy. In my opinion - they are overpriced considering how much time one generally spends in the cabin for a three day ( really 2 day) cruise. cruising forever Posted August 18, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Are the Junior Suites on the Sovereign about the same size as a D1 on Radiance class? That's what the photos look like.
