CruiseFamilyof4 Posted August 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2006 On the Crown, are the main shows appropriate for children? I'm always concerned with languange and topic of some solo performers (comedian, hypnotist, etc.). On other lines, they will state "family friendly" but I haven't seen anything about this on these threads. Thanks.
Cruzbw Posted August 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2006 I can't answer your question, but I'm interested in the answer. When we take our kids, we wonder the same thing. We have found the Princess shows more family-friendly than the Carnival shows. Isn't that interesting? But I haven't noticed that some lines post "family-friendly," as you stated. Please tell me which ones have done that. My two teen daughters walked out of a show on Carnival, seeing the dress and movements of the dancers. DW and I looked at each other and said, okay we better support them! We always sit near the back and ends of rows for this option, I don't choose to make a statement. Sandytoes Posted August 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2006 All the shows are family-oriented - humorous, energetic, and entertaining. There is nothing in the way of language or content that anyone shouldn't see or hear. All the shows are suitable for audiences young and old. The only thing was one lady passenger, who was picked as a contestant for the Not-so-Newlywed game. She kept cursing and was told my the director of the show to reframe from cursing that there are young people in the room. She said "that's ok my kids have heard it all ready. Nothing new". ACD then said well there are other children in here as well....She said - so...and kept cursing....The ACD staff were not pleased....This lady looked like a fool.....She didn't care or was she that dumb and didn't get it..... Colo Cruiser Posted August 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2006 Other then the "Sarge" adult midnight show I think they are all family friendly. :)
friend of Eeyore Posted August 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2006 I'm not so sure that the "Destinations Anywhere" show was family friendly. We went to the first (early) show. There were two songs: one about "your friendly h*rny receptionist" where the "receptionist" gyrated on top of a guy (with several other female dancers), and the song "Roxanne", where they showed the selling, buying, and killing of prostitutes. In my opinion, those two songs are not for children. What do you think?

Cruisin' Chick Posted August 21, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2006 Our rule of thumb is that if there isn't a notation in the newsletter for a show or if a show is scheduled way before midnight, then it's suitable for our girl. She's been going to the production shows since her first cruise at 23 months of age (but that one, we sat near the back just in case). Maybe that's why she was ready for an adult music concert (Diana Krall) when she was almost 7.

In my opinion, those two songs are not for children. What do you think? I agree with you about this one. I was very surprised by it. It just didn't seem like the kind of show Princess usually does and they could have left out just a small part of it and it would have been fine. It's the only show I've ever seen on Princess that I've had any question about, but if this is where they are heading, I'd be real careful about taking children with me. I actually saw this one on the Star but I'm pretty sure it's the same show you are talking about.
Trainman52 Posted August 22, 2006 #10 Share Posted August 22, 2006 On the Crown, are the main shows appropriate for children? The shows in The Explorer's Lounge are also family friendly. As far as the comedians go, Sarge has a few things in his family show that might offend. You would be amazed, however, with the amount of things that our children "know" that we didn't teach them. I was actually more amazed by the fact that they were showing "The Producers" on MUTS in the afternoon. True it is a comedy with a PG-13 rating, but some of the underlying themes are not what you would expect in a family movie.

airgirl Posted August 23, 2006 #12 Share Posted August 23, 2006 I guess I am in the minority. I really enjoyed the midnight shows on the Carnival with the adult language. Looking forward to Sarges midnight show (without kids of course!)
