cruisetarp Posted August 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2006 We will be in St. Thomas/St. John on a future cruise and two of the girls we are taking would love to swim with the dolphins. Any information as to availability and experiences would be very helpful. Thanks
Betsy's Mom Posted August 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2006 As far as I know there are no "swim with dolphins" available on the Island, either St. John or St. Thomas. Enjoy our beaches! :) B.
cruisetarp Posted August 22, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Thanks so much for the information. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm sure once the girls see your beautiful beaches they will get over their initial disappointment and enjoy a wonderful day in St. Thomas. The US has much more stringient animal protection laws than most third world countries which is why dolphin swims in the US are at large facilities that can comply. The ones you find in Mexico and other Caribbean islands lack the necessary funds and staff to properly care for the dolphins. They exist as profit making operations to suck dollars from naive tourists.
