klh-or Posted August 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2006 We are scheduled to dock in Juneau at 2 pm, and we are on a 3 pm whale watching tour with Captain Larry. We apparently dock at AJD, and per my info from Orca Enterprises that means we have to catch a shuttle to their office. Does anyone know if this is a shuttle provided by OE or just a city shuttle? Any tips for getting off the ship as quick as possible so we don't miss our tour? This is the only independent excursion we've booked and I'm a little nervous about the tight schedule. Thanks! Thomkm Posted August 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2006 We had a similar schedule this past June on the Sun Princess. We were scheduled for a 1:30 docking and didn't dock until 2:00. By docking at AJD you have to take a shuttle into town. As it worked out we were running into Capt Larry's at 3:10. Fortunely they were just starting to leave and we made the bus. Didn't make for a very relaxing day. This is the downside of booking private excursions..although Capt. Larry's is an excellent excursion. If you were docking downtown you'd probably be OK. Budget Queen Posted August 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2006 From the AJ dock they run school buses to shuttle the 1+++ mile to the downtown area. I suggest you be in line ready to get off the ship as soon as it clears. There can be significant lines for the shuttles but they do run about continously.
