lhall85917 Posted August 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Definitely think you should change to June 12 and join our CC group!! LOL :D just kidding, but you are definitely invited!! I would think you would be pretty safe in May, every once in a while you get a chilly day but overall should be good. You could always look up average temps in NY to get an idea. Late May would obviously be better than early!!
l929 Posted August 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2006 We cruised out of Bayonne this past Memorial Day and it was fine. We were at the pool right after lunch on day of embarkation. But it was the end of May.
WeLuvVacation Posted August 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2006 May in NYC can range anywhere from 40's in the evening in early May to 90's in the afternoon in late May. If you are only going from the plane to the taxi to the ship taking a sweater is your call. (You might want one on the ship anyway as the a/c can be cold in some areas) I would not take one(I love colder weather), my wife might (she hates colder weather). However you go have a blast of a time!
MrPete Posted August 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2006 We cruised in May last year on the Legend. It was cold the first night, but the next morning, it was BEAUTIFUL, and the blue water was already being churned by the ship.
pounder207 Posted August 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Weather is generally good in May. But when in May are you sailing? West Side Terminal is a mess if 3 ships are leaving on the same day. The third Saturday in May has several NYC street festivals including the 9th Ave Food festival that makes Manhattan gridlock central. If you're leaving that day, you'll return on Fleet Week Sunday. Security is extra tight at the West Side Terminal then because several of the visiting naval vessels dock there. None of this makes a cruise then impossible or undesirable, but you should be aware of it.
