GoPennState Posted August 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Yippie! We just received our Documents for our September 28th Sensation Cruise.:D As everyone else does, I read through them a few times front to back. Then it hit me......Without even stepping on the ship, we already have "spent" a few hundred dollars in Parking, baggage drop, grats ect..! Holy Sail n Sign Batman. Oh well it's all going to be worth every penny. This will be a GREAT 9th Anniversary that we will be able to spend with friends that will Celebrate their Anny too. Between us we are leaving 6 kids with the Grandparents while we go nuts!! The DW's are starting to get their livers prepared so they don't have 1 DOD and fall asleep! Oh well, we are very excited and can't wait.:) Thank you CC for all the advise and information!! Dave

GoPennState Posted August 22, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted August 22, 2006 You can pay for parking before you get there??? Not literally. I was just refering to the expenses that are non-negotiables. Dave

bcb241 Posted August 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2006 The OP makes a good point here for the first time cruisers. The price of the ticket is only the START of your expenses, unfortunately. Just getting to the port either by flying in or driving and parking for a week can add a fair amount of bucks and you haven't even left the dock yet! I probably have a kazillion T-shirts but I always buy more at the ports or on the ship. Why is that? Of course the drinks at dinner and the excursions and, of course, the many photographs and all of a sudden the "budget" price of my cruise is not so budget anymore but then again it's a "vacation" You can't put a price on memories Spend that moldy money!:)
LHP Posted August 22, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 22, 2006 The OP brings up a very good point that I always include when I talk to "newbies" about cruising. You don't want folks to be surprised by $70.00 - $90.00 a week for parking, $10.00 a day per person for tips, and other things that they may not be aware of.
