sanemb Posted August 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2006 Anyone know if we can pack Bonine and vitamins (like Ginger) in our carry on? Sure don't want it to get lost in transit, but want it to get taken before we get on the plane. Leave in 12 days on the Crown. Sandy
Nitemare Posted August 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2006 As long as it's not a liquid or a gel you'll be fine

karenandgene Posted August 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2006 I hadn't really thought about this until the security rules changed. When we travel, I bring an assortment of over the counter remedies. I'm a walking drugstore. However, they are not in the original containers as I buy the largest, most economical size. So my Tylenol, Advil, Tums and our vitamins are mixed together in a little plastic container. Anything that is in a bubble pack stays in that package. Prescription drugs are in their respective bottle or box with the label. To top this off, I carry ALL of our "drugs" with me. (I have a "thing" about my "opened" stuff being checked and potentially having someone mess with them. If for some reason, I have purchased a tiny bottle of something and it's unopened, I will check it.) I would never check any prescription drug. It's not like I'm travelling with baggies of pills, but I'd rather have a chance to explain if security had a question. Although, I do worry about generics that I use that have no clearly identifiable markings. However, I've never had a problem. (Most recent flight was last night.) I can see where someone that uses a lot of over the counter supplements could have a tote bag full of them, but if you're taking a multi-vitamin, I wouldn't worry. ...wow, I just thought of my oil based probiotic capsules. Well, no one said anything...I guess it's to be determined.
Spikesgirl Posted August 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2006 If you have an OTC med, you don't have to worry about it being in its original container. You can put it into a smaller container. However, if you are going to pack a lot of it, put it in your checked bags. Carry you prescriptions with you in their original bottles, just in case. you can always have a smaller amount put into a bottle and have your pharmacy relabel it. I carried a med kit with me in our checked baggage (it inl=clude all sorts of pills, tablet, oinments, etc) and didn't need 90% of it, but was sure glad it was there all the same. You don't have to worry about carrying your ginger and whatnot, as long as it's not in gel form (or over 4 ox of it) and as long as you're not carrying a box of them. Relax and go enjoy your vacation. Charlie

If you are going to carry pills of any kind in your carry on, they must be in their original container. Just put everything in your checked bags and you won't have a problem.
