Help Need Hotel, Motel

I have been calling all over and no one can seem to find me a hotel, motel in the Miami Port area under $90 a night and what they do find is all booked up. What does anyone recommend.

Try priceline.com. $90 is pretty much the going rate for every time I've been in the Miami area.

What you pay through Priceline will depend in large part on what dates you need the room. We have used Priceline very successfully in the past and have been able to book rooms for as little as $40 per night (Marriott Biscayne Bay) and as much as $115 (Hyatt Regency Downtown). Others have been able to get the Intercontinental for the same time that we are getting the Hyatt, by bidding $85. If you check biddingfortravel.com you can get an idea of what amounts are being successfully bid. Select a four star hotel in the downtown Miami area and you should get a very high quality property at much less than you will pay if you book directly with the hotel. You will not know what hotel you are getting until your bid is accepted and once your bid is accepted your credit card is billed directly and the booking is non-refundable. If you are willing to accept those conditions, you will be fine. Good luck.:)

We will be traveling in January DH and I dont really have a problem with price as long as its not over $125 a night but my neighbors who will be traveling with us need 2 rooms and a price like that will knock him over for a one night stay. We really dont mind if its a low budget place Motel 8 along those lines....we just need a place to sleep thats not the airport floor. LOL

Mmm... I posted a reply, don't know what happened to it~sorry if this is a duplicate!

I just booked a room at the Hyatt for $75/night ($92.86 with all taxes) on Priceline.com for our 8/10 cruise. I first researched the prices for downtown hotels in the 3 star range on Hotels.com then offered Priceline.com $20 lower than the lowest rates I found. I was surprised they accepted my $75 offer and gave me the Hyatt. Go ahead and put in a low ball offer on Priceline.com the worst they will do is say no.

I can only get so far on Priceline.com's site. Do they let you pick your hotel or when you put your lowest in do they pick one for you.

No, on Priceline you do not get to choose your hotel, but you do get to designate the area and the type of hotel (2star, 3 star, 4star). That pretty much limits the possible hotels you can get and if you choose a 4 star hotel in the downtown Miami area, you can be pretty sure of getting the Hyatt, Marriott, Intercontinental or the Doubletree. I think that a 3 star might get you the Holiday Inn at Bayside. Any of the above hotels would be good especially at the low prices that are usually successful on Priceline.:) If your bid is accepted they will tell you at that time what the hotel is. They will not guarantee things like the bed arrangements or smoking vs. non-smoking, but as soon as you know what the hotel is and have your booking number, you can call the hotel and make those requests directly. We have always been accommodated.

One thing to remember is January is right before the Super Bowl which is in Miami this coming year on the weekend of Feb 3rd. About two weeks before the prices are going to start going up due to high demand for TV newscasters etc... :)

Looking at your signature your sailing only a few weeks before the Super Bowl. Hotel prices in Miami (and the surrounding area) have sky rocketed. You may want to look further afield to find a cheap deal. There is a poster on the Hotel board, Bequia, who is really knowledgeable about the hotels in the area and might have some suggestions.

Ok so if I would like the Hyatt that would be under 4 star? I would prefer along those lines. TIA

You won't be guaranteed the Hyatt, but it will be a hotel in the area of similar quality. In downtown Miami there aren't that many that would fit in that category, so whatever you get should be fine. For October 15th, we did get the Hyatt for $115, but others who booked through Priceline a bit later were able to get the Intercontinental for $85. Both hotels and rates are very good and significantly better than available on the hotel's own websites.

We booked the Intercontinental in Miami on Priceline for $88.00 a nite for Dec.

I believe the only 4 star hotels in downtown Miami is the Intercontinental and the Hyatt on Priceline. Just make sure you put in 4 star not 3 star.

Good Luck!
