Grammy444 Posted August 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Sorry if this is not the place to post, but we will be going on a 10 night Med. cruise in October, and if the restrictions regarding carry-on items are still in place at that time, does anybody know when you order bottled water on a flight, do you actually get the bottle, or do they pour it into a glass? I was planning on taking some full bottles with me in my carry-on tote and saving the bottles to refill and take along on our shore excursions. IF we don't get the actual bottle on a flight I will have to pack empty bottles.
Happy ks Posted August 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2006 There is still time left for the limitations to be lifted. I'd suggest you wait until a few days before departure, then check with your airline. I've been given water in a cup and a bottle on flights, I suppose it depends on the airline. Grammy444 Posted August 23, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Thanks Kathy - I was watching the airline website to see what limitations are still in place, and will continue to do so. Also think just to be on the safe side I will bring my own bottles along.
wrp96 Posted August 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2006 I always place my bottles of water in ziploc bags and put them in my checked luggage, putting only one bottle in my carryon (which I won't do anymore).
Keith1010 Posted August 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Likely you will get a bottle on the flight since it's a long haul flight over to Europe. Keith
gg3 Posted August 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Heard on the national news last week that airlines are stocking a lot more bottled water on their flights, since pax can't bring that item on board. Just ask for one when your flight attendant gets a free moment. :) gg
bdcbbq Posted August 24, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2006 I'm a little bummed about this no water rule. I use a CPAP machine and need to use distilled water in the humidifier. I usually fill a small plastic bottle with enough water to at least get me through the first night after a flight. Its a pain to try and make sure I can find some upon arrival to use the first night. I'm usually to tired to go look around.
carriej73 Posted August 26, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2006 It depends on the airline - usually they will give you the bottle (or can of soda) if you ask. You CAN pack empty or full water bottles in your stowaway luggage, just not carry them on. And you probably can bring an empty clear bottle too. Our ship had cold water available 24 hours and yoiu could use a cup with a lid (it was near the coffee) so I did that a few times. I also paid $2 for the Dannon Spring water in our room - it tastes better to me.

I know it may sound silly, but I know people with medical reasons can bring on things everyone else cannot. I also believe they are letting people bring on 4 ounces of fluid that is a medicine. It might be worth the try.
lowerowe Posted September 8, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 8, 2006 I am also sorry if this is not the right place to post this question but are you allowed to bring any bottled water with you on the ship? I will be on the sensation if that helps. Thanks
CruiseNut7 Posted September 16, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 16, 2006 Yes, you can bring your own bottled water on the ship. Folks have entire cases sent with their checked baggage. As far as flying, we just returned from cruising the British Isles and NO liquids were allowed leaving Atlanta or returning from Gatwick/London. For your October cruise, just buy a few bottles on board the ship - it will be less of a hassle for you and you'll have your bottled water. I fly Delta most frequently and just ask for a bottle of water or a can of soda - I request no cup or ice, so get the whole can unopened. Hope this helps in some way! ;)
