You should be able to get service in San Juan & St. Thomas. I was able to use Sprint from St. Thomas last year, but had no signal in any of the other ports. I'm going out of San Juan on B2Bs on the 4th of November this year on the Crown and will have both a Sprint & Cingular phone with me, but only expect to be able to call from San Juan & again St. Thomas.

You might check their web sites, along with Horizon to see if the offer that coverage.

There is a company that is selling the cruise lines cell phone service that will work onboard the ship. This company is a partner company and partly owned by Cingular. Some of the Celebrity brands have signed up for this service and are doing installs. So far, Princess has elected to pass.

 

We are going to be on a Celebrity Summit cruise in two weeks. They have cell service while at sea. I am a Cingular customer and it will cost me $2.49 per minute to use the service.

Cingular has the cheapest rates at $2.49 per minute. I have heard that Verizon charges a roaming rate of something like over $4 per minute. It is considered international roaming, so check with your carrier.

Cingular has service throughout the Southern Caribbean. Just make sure to add international calling to your cell phone plan.
