sailingsue5 Posted August 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2006 This is my second RCI cruise so my TA said I would be getting the coupon booklets. Can anyone tell me what is all offered in these? Also, what is the C&A Reception? Would I be eligible to go to that? The free drinks mentioned caught my eye! :p Any other perks? One more question regarding this site. How can I do a search of topics? I don't see that option anywhere......

I don't see that option anywhere...... At the top of the page, there is a blue bar and search is one of the many options. It is the 3rd from the right. It works great! mchrist Posted August 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2006 sailngsue5 - We also are making are 2nd RCCL cruise. We will be interested in seeing what the "old timers" say about C&A. As for the searching, you MUST login to the site. You will get a "Search this Forum" button after you login. Hope this helps.

It works great! I was looking way at the top but I see it now!! I just looked at all the blue areas after your post. THANKS! Now I can search first before I ask the questions that probably have been asked 8 million times.
ORANGEinINDY Posted August 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2006 I have limited experience but, the coupons and C&A reception depends on your cruise. My 2nd was a 5 night so there was not a C&A reception... waiting to see what it is on my 9 night 3rd cruise:D the coupon book will have a couple bucks at the casino (you can get cash!), a 2 for 1 drink coupon, something at the photo shop, and if there is one, a free trip to Johnny Rockets (just the burger, I think) Nothing to 'knock your socks off' but as my dad always said... better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick... junobeach Posted August 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2006 My last cruise on the Enchantment also gave me coupons for free internet time.
Sunrunner3 Posted August 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2006 My coupon booklet on AOS contained. $5.00 Internet credit, 2 for 1 drink coupon, free cover charge at Johnny Rockets (had to pay for shakes), 5% off at logo shop, $12 play for $10 at casino, free wine tasting on 7 day cruise (i think, doing this from memory and mine is short), free picture of ship when making a photo purchase, a coupon from "Ben and Jerrys", and maybe a discount at the spa thats all I can remember. also went to the c & a reception, an invite is delivered to your cabin for that, free drinks too! sailingsue5 Posted August 25, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted August 25, 2006 I suppose they are just enough to tease and get you to spend more! Bummer that there won't be a Reception as we are also on a 5 night.
shirleygr Posted August 25, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2006 Yes, there is a spa coupon. When we went on the Enchantment 5 night last November there was a reception for gold C&A members and there was a seperate reception for C&A platinum, diamond and diamond plus. Not sure if this may have changed since then. You'll have to let us know.
2xfun Posted August 25, 2006 #10 Share Posted August 25, 2006 You also get a nice welcome back gift too, in case your TA forgot to mention that. It could be anything from a nice tote bag to picture frames. If you don't have it by the 3rd day or so be sure & ask your room steward sometimes they "miss" giving them. Not sure if this may have changed since then. You'll have to let us know. Did you get an invitation in your room, or did you need to see it in the compass. I thought if there was a C&A reception, I'd get an invitation similar to the one I got for the Meet and Mingle on my first cruise.
phopte Posted August 25, 2006 #12 Share Posted August 25, 2006 Of course, all of this assumes that you have joined the C&A club! It is not automatic - you must sign up. If you have already done that, great!
sailingsue5 Posted August 25, 2006 Author #13 Share Posted August 25, 2006 Oh wow! I didn't expect gifts. That will be fun! We have two cabins booked, one in my husbands name and one in mine since we have the 3 children coming with us this time. Do we both get a gift or is it one per couple? (Don't mean to sound greedy, just curious). Is the spa coupon for a free treatment or $$ off of a treatment? What level am I considered at for the reception? I haven't received any of my information from C&A yet as I just applied for it and was told I could receive back credit for the last cruise I took in 1997. Hope that is the case. Thanks for the tip on asking the room steward if we didn't get the gift. I would have never known if it wasn't for this site.

If you have already done that, great! I'm still working on that. Contacted them on Wednesday and still haven't heard back. TA said there was no problem receiving credit for the cruise I went on in 1997. Hope that's the case! I have until 10/28/06 to work it out with them. Any suggestions if I don't hear back? katstoy Posted August 25, 2006 #16 Share Posted August 25, 2006 My last two cruises were at the gold C&A level. One was a five day, the other a three day. It was pretty much the same coupon book for each. The coupon book included discounts from Ben & Jerrys, the RCI logo store (10% off), no cover in Johnny Rockets (both ships did not have one), 2 for 1 drink coupon, casino coupons, free picture of the ship if you bought a photo, internet coupon and others I don't recall. I only used the logo store, drink and casino coupons. On both cruises we got a tote bag with the name of the ship enbroidered on it. They were left in our cabin on about the second day. You get one for each C&A member, not one per family. So if both spouses are C&A members you should get two. Now, if you're lucky on the five night you'll have a welcome back party. My understanding is that they normally do not do these on less thana 7 day itinerary, but they did one last December on the Vision. We did not have one on the 3 night. It was awesome. Free drinks and free eats (gotta love those chocolate covered strawberries!) There was a band and folks were dancing up a storm. The only problem was that it was scheduled right between the two dinner seatings. We were first seating and were full from dinner so didn't partake of the food, but we sure did enjoy those cocktails and champagne! An invitation was left in our stateroom for hte welcome back party. There was also a second welcome back party for platinum and above the next night.
sailingsue5 Posted August 25, 2006 Author #17 Share Posted August 25, 2006 Was it listed in the compas too or how will we know about the reception if they happen to forget to leave us an invitation? You don't get much for free so when I do, I'm there!! Especially when it's free DRINKS! :D No Johnny Rockets on the Enchantment either, darn, that place sounds great. We don't have them around here. I don't think it was listed. It was in one of the aft bar/lounges. I was surprised to get the invite. This upcoming cruise makes me platinum. So I can't wait for the two parties on our next 7 nighter!

sailingsue5 Posted August 25, 2006 Author #21 Share Posted August 25, 2006 When you think about it, most of the perks are small, yet RCI knows what they are doing because those little perks make it so we want to come back! TA suggested Carnival this time because it was cheaper but we had such a great experience on RCI our last cruise I just had to stick with them. TA suggested Carnival this time because it was cheaper but we had such a great experience on RCI our last cruise I just had to stick with them. Actually the perks get a little bigger and better as you advance through the levels of C&A membership. For example, because we are Diamond Plus members, we were invited to the free two night pre-inaugural sailing of the Freedom of the Seas when it visited Boston in May. Diamond members and above get access to the concierge lounge (diamond club on Freedom) on ships which have one, and platinum and diamond members get a second party in addition to the regular C&A welcome back party. The gifts do change over time, and we have received tote bags, toiletry kits, fanny packs etc. No matter how good the gifts and benefits are though, the primary thing that keeps us coming back is the wonderful cruise experience that RCI provides. Without that, no gifts or special benefits would be enough to make us continue to sail with them.:)
