idcruisers Posted August 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2006 We will be on the Valor 9/10 -- only 2 weeks to go-- but will be leaving our kids behind. I was wondering if there is a way to contact the ship for urgent (not emergency) messages. On Princess you can email the ship with shipname@princess.com and put the passenger information in the subject line. This will then be delivered to the cabin. Does Carnival offer a similar service. It would be great peace of mind knowing they could contact us if needed and we could then go to the internet cafe and email them. Thanks for the help. heymom32000 Posted August 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2006 We too are leaving our children behind. I plan on going online once a day to check on them BUT incase of a real emergency how would my mil contact us while we're cruising? We will leave a letter with her stating that she has our permission to get medical treatment for them. Also will give her the phone number to the Dr my dh works for just incase she needs something. Hopefully everything will be just fine but better safe than sorry.
salty dingo Posted August 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2006 Isn't that information on the Carnival website and/or in the Welcome Aboard booklet. I think it is about $10 a minute, give or take a few bucks. You dial an 800 number with credit card in hand, and give them the pax name and ship, and I suppose they try and have them paged. Email is much better. Just check your mail from the ship or at an Internet cafe while in port. It is much less expensive to do so in port.

I think Carnival is also planning to bring cell service to the ships; I don't know how long it will take to implement fleetwide. People who have said that their cells worked on the ship also said that the bills were outrageously high. Of course, if it's an emergency, you won't care how much it costs.
