Birthday Decorations from RCCL

Recommended Posts

I am considering buying the birthday package from RCCL for my dd 13th birthday cruise. Having never purchased anything in advance like this before from the cruise line, I am wondering if it is worth it.

Are the decorations in place prior to arriving upon check-in to your cabin and if you used this service, did you feel it was worth it?

Much thanks for your replies!

I just ordered them for our Oct 6th cruise. I had asked in the past if anyone felt they were worth it and people replied yes.

I say go for it is only $29 and it will make her feel extra special.

The decorations are exactly like what you see on RCCL's website.

I feel it is really overpriced.

We have celebrated my husband's birthday on a couple of cruises now and we received the birthday decorations from RCCL as a complimentary item once for a situational thing that happened to us and while it was nice our room has looked better when I've done it myself with items bought from the dollar store for about $5

I would rather save the money for a shore excursion and do it myself.

If the cost is not an issue however, their decorations are just great!

At the dollar store I got these honeycomb type streamers that are multi coloured and are only the size of a cookie and totally flat before opened. They pack really well and take no room. Also had some make my own balloon people, that also come flat and some cling on window birthday signs. They work well on the mirrors in your cabin if you're in an inside cabin or on the doors or windows if you're in an outside cabin.

Hope this helps a little:)

I have ordered decorations from them 2x, once for bday and once for anniversary. While yes it may seem a bit overpriced...they were decorated really nice and it saved me from having to try and do it myself..It also includes a small cake which they put in your stateroom. I would go for it :) It just makes it extra special and hey I'm sure you can probably think of other things you may have spent $29 on that were not worth nearly that. They do a very nice job and it will make it extra special.

Go for it!:) I did it this past December for my husband's birthday and I was so happy that I did. The decorations were up when we first entered our cabin, and the cake was in our cabin that night when we returned from dinner. At that time, the price of the decorations included a cake, although I think I've heard that you now have to pay separately for the cake. See the following pictures:

Thank you for sharing your pictures and replies. Cost is not a factor. I just wanted to make sure they would be up upon first arriving. I believe you do have to pay for the cake now. Gone are the days when your TA let the cruise lines know it was a birthday or anniversary and a cake was brought over to your table for dessert.

I am going right now to order!!! Thank you once again. :)

My TA ordered the anniversary decorations as a surprise once. I thought they were a little cheesy, but a 13 yo will probably enjoy the hoopla! Yes, they were up and hanging when we got in the cabin. Happy Birthday to your DD and enjoy your cruise.

Hello all, I just went on my first cruise FOS Aug 13,2006 and had a wonderful time. My bf got me the birthday package, everything was set up by the time we got back on the ship from Cozumel. The cake didn't show up until two days later, but i really liked the decorations and i just turned 21. Here are some pics, sorry if the are so large.

Belated Happ Birthday!

Thanks for sharing the pics. I have gone ahead and ordered without the cake and instead got the nonalcoholic champagne with chocolate strawberrys. She is sharing the cabin with her friend, so I am sure they will love coming in one of the nights and finding that!

I have ordered birthday decor for DH in the past. Make sure you print and bring the receipt for when you order (they ask what day you would like them to be put up). We got the cake on day one, the decor on day two after I stopped to ask about them at the pursers desk. They needed the verfications of what I ordered. We got the robe on day three......I was not overly happy with the service, but they were very fun and festive.

Hey there

I don't know if you will even check this message again since you said you already ordered it but this is what I can tell you.

I Just travelled on the Mariner - the Aug 6th sailing it was a big family cruise for my 40th birthday. Our TA arranged for my stateroom to be decorated for my birthday - cake and all. It was all set up and ready for me when we boarded. I thought it was great. It made me smile all week. I'd go into one of our other undecorated rooms and it just seemed like something was missing. It just gave my room that extra special touch. Not to mention the sign on the outside of the door. I got extra birthday wishes from complete strangers and it made it nice and easy to find the room in a hallway of similarity.

But hey I didn't have to pay for it and it's just my opinion but I personally loved it.

have a good cruise

Do they keep the decorations up all week? and I could have it decorated anytime of the week.

I just want to be sure.

Thank you all for your responses and the pictures.

My brother and my girlfriend will be celebrating their birthdays while on our cruise.

Yes, they keep them up all week -- unless you decide to take them down. Our room steward even fixed a couple of them during the week that were coming down. We loved having them up all week.

We went on the majesty about a week ago and I purchased the anniversary version...It was a nice surprise for my husband. Not to mention it helps you find the room later (the sign on the door). The cake was included with the price (we ordered chocolate) and it was delicious!

Also, our server at dinner the first night asked if anyone was here celebrating something and when we said our anniversary, they brought us a piece of cake and sang to us.

Overall, for the surprise factor, I'd say it is worth it!

I ordered the birthday package as a surprise for my husband on our recent cruise. Everything was set up when we arrived and my husband loved it. We left most of the decorations up all week. We didn't order a cake, but the waiter brought him a dessert with a candle in it after dinner and we all sang "Happy Birthday." He said it was a great birthday!

Don't count on them being up the day you embark.

Our first cruise DW bought it as a surprise for me since my birthday fell on the first day of the cruise. After dinner the decorations still were not up. The next day they appeared. By then she told me what she tried to do because I could see she was aggravated.

We just chalked it up to experience and figured the first day the room stewards are exceptionally busy changing the rooms over and getting luggage to the room. I guess it just depends on the room steward if it will be up when you get to the room or not.

I have ordered the Bday deco and also the honeymoon deco back in 05. The Bday deco was recent with the new designs.. they were so worth the money and DD 18 absolutely enjoyed them very much. They are in the room when you arrive, so you do not have to climb on furniture and "hurry to deco" for the occasion.. WELL WORTH THE 29.00 without a doubt.:)

will be buying them again for my DD 13th in February
