rykersdad Posted August 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2006 I'm confused and so is my TA and apparently Princess. When you book a hotel with Princess precruise, does it include transfers from airport to hotel and then again to port? Or is it a separate cost? Or do you have to book 2 nights or more to get the included transfer? Finally, has anyone done this in Rome? and if so roughly what time does the transfer pick you up the next day to go to the port? willysgrandma Posted August 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2006 Your travel agent should be calling Princess to get that answer for you.
arlenemilt Posted August 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2006 All transportation has always been included whenever we've booked a Princess hotel precruise. Pickup from airport to hotel and pickup from hotel to port. Can't answer for Rome; never did it there. Arlene
cherylandtk Posted August 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2006 When you book a hotel with Princess precruise, does it include transfers from airport to hotel and then again to port? It did for us, but we also booked the airfare with Princess. But I don't think that air booking is required, just the hotel booking to get both transfers. The Cruise Plus page on the website says: All Cruise Plus packages include transfers, baggage handling and meet-and-greet services. To extend your cruise vacation, call your Travel Agent or contact us directly at 1-800-PRINCESS.
rykersdad Posted August 27, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted August 27, 2006 thank you Cheryl and Arlene.... we're not newbies, just have never booked a precruise hotel with the cruise line, and duh, it's a no brainer that the TA would be contacting Princess........ it seems Princess had a bit of a problem answering the question also! Did you do a stay > than one night? That may be where the problem evolves............... we are only doing a one night.
cherylandtk Posted August 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2006 We just did a one nighter--I would think that maybe your TA just needs to point out the Princess information to the (clueless) Princess rep, who apparently is a total newbie. But yes, you are supposed to get both transfers as part of the package. So don't book the independant ones.

katisdale Posted August 28, 2006 #11 Share Posted August 28, 2006 In 2004 we did a precruise stay in Rome booked through Princess. We did our own air. The transfers from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the ship were included in the hotel package. When you get to the hotel you get a package that tells you when you have to have your luggage ready and when to expect the bus to come. However on our cruise the ship was late getting to the port (just out of dry dock and bad weather) so on the day of transfer our 11AM transfer time became 4 PM instead. It gave us an extra day to do the hop-on/hop-off tour again which we enjoyed. However it was weird that the hotel didn't want to keep our luggage, neither checked or hand carry. The Princess reps intervened and got that straight so we could do a little more touring. If I was going back I would not book my hotel through Princess. We were at the Crowne Something St. Peter. Bad beds, poor customer service, and high price. I could have gotten a nicer room and paid for transfers and more with what I saved.
QueenofScreen Posted August 31, 2006 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Katie do some quick math... if princess room was about $300. pp, what would you have spent booking your own room and transporation (to hotel and to port)?
