Chelsm Posted August 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2006 I have a tour with Godfrey booked but I am now second guessing it. Is it better to try to get to St.John for the day or to stay in St.Thomas? What is the MUST see things to do to St.Thomas?
Host Joe Posted August 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2006 Hi there, I personally love going to St. John for the day. Thanks to Cruise Critic, that is what we did for our first trip to St. Thomas, and we have taken many of our friends there for the day since. We have also enjoyed the Tram to the big overlook, which is breathtaking (we have done this after our day in St. John... we always come back to the ship at least a couple of hours early and then the Arial Tram is walking distance to where the ships usually dock). Happy cruise planning!
gypsyrose Posted August 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2006 We did the Godfrey tour this year and it is well worth the money. It was our 1st time on the island and really wanted to see it. Loved the eastern route so much we are doing it again next year and plan to take the ferry over to St. John for the day. Either way, you can't go wrong. LDR Posted August 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2006 I also recommend the tram up to Paradise Point. The views are amazing. There are some shops up there too, but they pretty much just had the same stuff they did down below. Some of my best cruise pictures are from Paradise Point:)

Some of my best cruise pictures are from Paradise Point:) Want to do Paradise Point on upcoming Crown Princess Cruise. Question, can we just walk over to the tram buy a ticket and get on? How much is a ticket? Princess is offering the tram ride as an excursion for $15 a ticket, with no transportation from the ship. I don't want to pre-buy tickets just in case of cloudy weather. Thanks, Ron
Ren1216 Posted September 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2006 You dont really need transportation, its right across from Havensight. But I think I read on their webpage that the cost is now $18 per person. Hard to imagine Princess selling the tickets for less. http://paradisepointtramway.com/
crisp1 Posted September 6, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2006 I have a tour with Godfrey booked but I am now second guessing it. Is it better to try to get to St.John for the day or to stay in St.Thomas? What is the MUST see things to do to St.Thomas? Both St Thomas and St John are beautiful. If you have a long day in port, then a trip over to St John is a must. We did the Trunk bay excursion last yr. The trip over was nice, as well as the bus ride to the bay, but a 4 hr excursion left us with little over an hr at the beach. There is alot to see in St Thomas as well. Although I've never done Godfrey's tour, the folks looked like they were having a good time. I prefer having a little more control over how I spend my day, so we hire a private guide, and go where we want, when we want. ( hi LDR :)) I'm sure you'll have a good time with Godfrey Seas the day! cruiseescape Posted September 9, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2006 We were there back in May and we did not buy the tickets from Princess only to find out they are cheaper with them then at the ticket booth. We are sailing on Carnival in 2 weeks and going back there and they don't even offer it at all. It is so beautiful up there!!! Great place to have a drink and relax and take in the view!!! :)

stprdi Posted September 12, 2006 #14 Share Posted September 12, 2006 We wanted to go to St. John but it was our first trip and fearful of making it back in time. Next time for sure. If staying on St. Thomas I"d say take an island tour or make sure to visit a beach. We loved Magens Bay but hear there are others equally as beautiful. Kimmer727 Posted September 12, 2006 #15 Share Posted September 12, 2006 Do the Trunk Bay shore excursion. We've done it twice. You won't believe how beautiful the beach is. Amazing.
sunnyv Posted September 13, 2006 #16 Share Posted September 13, 2006 With Princess docking at Crown Bay beginning October, 2006, they cancelled the Paradise Point Tram from their excursion options:( From Crown Bay, neither Paradise Point or Havensight shopping will be as convenient as being docked at the Havensight pier. KJMommy04 Posted September 13, 2006 #17 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Trunk Bay in St. John is absolutely breathtaking. It was my favorite place of the whole cruise. This was taken overlooking Trunk Bay.

It's still just a short cab ride over though. Gotta tell you though, The mall is no biggie;)
