Early Flight out of Rome

DaytonOHMan

Recommended Posts

We are staying at the Hotel Cicerone post cruise. Our flight out of Rome (FCO) the next morning, a Tuesday, is at 7am.

Any seasoned Rome travelers got any advice as to how early I should get to the airport AND more importantly, the best way to get there at 4 or 5 am !?

Thanks in advance!

Well, you do have a bit of a problem. My best advice would be to cancel your hotel room and book a room at the Rome Airport Hilton,, which is actually connected to the terminals via a walkway. But, assuming you are "locked-in" to your hotel you are going to need a car or taxi to take you to FCO since the train line will not be running early enough for your trip. You are going to either need a very early taxi or you must pre-book a shuttle service. Your hotel should be able to handle both options or you can book a shuttle service on-line (there are quite a few companies). Assuming you want to be at the terminal by 5AM you are going need to leave your hotel no later than 4:15 (4 would be better).

I agree with Hank.....if you want to stay in Rome or are locked in to your hotel that is really ok,but make sure to have the hotel call you a taxi for 4am which they will do.If you want to call a car/driver(it will not cost all that much more) here are a couple of links for info.It is nice to stay in Rome for the day/night you are going to be there although you can come in from the Hilton.Enjoy your stay in Rome no matter what you do.

We stayed post cruise last year at the Cicerone and had a 7:45 am flight. We used Rome Cabs for all our transfers. Stefano suggested the pick up time necessary to get to FCO in time (5am I think). We shared the ride with another couple that also had an early flight which made the cost very reasonable.

The Cicerone is in a good location. Go to Gelarmony down the street for the BEST gelato we had! (recommended by Stefano)

Have a wonderful time.

Thanks to all for the advice...

DebNJoe, I assume Stefano is the Cicerone Concierge?

Sorry - guess I wasn't clear on this. He is the owner of Rome Cabs romecabs@yahoo.com. There are lots of threads on this board about him.

The hotel did recommend a terrific restaurant for dinner that was only about 2blocks away - but I can't remember the name.
