question about peat taylor

Recommended Posts

My family went with Peat in June. Unfortunately it was Sunday and many of us brought lots of childrens story books, stencils, colored pencils etc.. It was sad to miss this part of the tour. I wanted my 15 yo boys to see the kids faces when they saw the loot. I wanted to see them too. I wanted my kids to see how lucky we are.

Anyway, we went to Dunnes River first. We had about a dozen people, mostly CCers, that had discussed it beforehand. When you get there you go in a much larger group on the climb, Peat leaves you here. When he returned we went through Fern Gully and into the hills. We stopped for pictures and shopping (one little stand). At this point he would have taken us to the school. Then we could either go back to the ship and eat, stop at the Ruins Restaurant(which he recommends) or go on to tube. By this time you need to eat and if you go back to the ship or stop locally he will come back and take you tubing after.

My guys surprised me and just wanted to go back on the ship (they looooove the ship-life) so again I was a bit disappointed. I was sorta looking forward to tubing.

Next time....with Peat and not on Sunday.

We've booked with Peat twice in the past and wouldn't hesitate to use him again if we go to Jamaica. He's the best! We communicated solely via email with no problems whatsoever. We were the only people on our bus, so our tour guide asked us what we wanted to do...i.e. did we want to personalize it. Of course we jumped at the chance. Before our scheduled excursion, we were driven through the slums of Ocho Rios. It was at our request. We had two young girls with us who have lead a rather privileged life. They needed to see the rest of the world was not so lucky. Needless to say, it left a lasting impression and two young girls returned home a bit more mature than when they left.

Remember that he only deals in cash at the end of your excursion so make sure you have taken that into consideration before you leave.
