cruzjunkie22 Posted August 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2006 I have a question for the past Crown cruisers. This is my first time cruising on Princess, I have been on the RCL and NCL and during 1 of the nights, they had a food carving/sculpture demo/display. They both were awesome and I took a ton of pics. I saw from another persons pics that they had some displays, but could not decifer if it was just random pics throughout the cruise, or if there was a full demo 1 night? Thanks! friend of Eeyore Posted August 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2006 I saw from another persons pics that they had some displays, but could not decifer if it was just random pics throughout the cruise, or if there was a full demo 1 night? There was a full fruit/vegetable carving demo. I think it might have been the first full day. My DH's camera messed up, and we lost all the pictures from that. I'd love to see someone else's pictures - esp. if they make another monkey banging on a drum! That was just so cute!!
Steve13 Posted August 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2006 We've also been on both RCCL and NCL and both of them feature the carvings, etc during an elaborate midnight buffet which is held one night on each cruise. Does the Crown have a midngiht buffet also that features the carvings?
LARGIN Posted August 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2006 No special midnight buffets on any Princess ship as the buffet's are open 24/
TexasMom2 Posted August 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2006 It's been posted previously by past Crown passengers that the buffet is not open 24 hours. I think it might be due to the International Cafe being open during the late hours.
LARGIN Posted August 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2006 Interesting as my latest Princess Cruise Answer Book says both the Horizon and the International Cafe on the Crown Princess are open 24 hours. Since I have never been on the Crown, I cannot say if that info is correct or not.

The pics of the carvings were on a review of the Crown by Kathy, I think it was an early Aug sailing. The OP's tagname started w/ Miami. Sorry I don't have the full info to get you the link to see them. But don't recall seeing any monkey...

TexasMom2 Posted August 31, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 31, 2006 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=7399101&highlight=buffet+open#post7399101 (Post #8, I've seen it elsewhere also, maybe Editor Carolyn?) Buffet closes at 11:00 p.m. but the IC is open 24 hours and pizza as well. Probably can be found in the patters if someone has scanned them. cruzjunkie22 Posted August 31, 2006 Author #10 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Not really looking for the Buffet to eat, just wanted to see about the displays and carvings. On the RCL, the "show" started at 11:00PM and covered the entire dining room floor. After midnight, when people stopped taking pictures, you could go thru again and eat the displays. Alot of scupltures where made of different types of chocolates, or these little tuxedoed penquins were hardbolied eggs dressed up. Stuff like that. That is what I was inquiring about.
