Question - Crown & Anchor Completed Cruise Credits

MAHA

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a question for some of the more experienced RCCL cruisers here. How do the completed cruise credits work? My husband and myself went on a 9 night cruise on Voyager in 2004. We had a balcony cabin and our 3 sons had their own balcony cabin ( 2 were over 18 and joined Crown & Anchor). When I registered for online access to Crown & Anchor in March of 2006, it said I had completed one cruise, but had 2 completed cruise credits. My husbands and one son who lives at our address had the same number of completed cruise credits, even though they had only sailed on Voyager. We assumed that we each received credit for each others cabin since we all shared the same address and that's why we each had 2 completed cruise credits. In August of 2006, my husband and I went on Grandeur out of Baltimore for the 9 night cruise in a balcony cabin. We now can see that cruise appear on the completed cruise screen, but still only have 2 completed cruise credits. Can anyone explain this to me? I have called RCCL's Crown & Anchor desk and they explained that we should only have 2 completed cruise credits for the cruise on Voyager and the one on Grandeur. But, why did we have 2 completed cruise credits in March when we weren't sailing until August. Are they trying to cheat us out of a completed cruise credit or have I misunderstood how you get credit for completed cruises from othere living a tthe same address?

Thanks for your help!

Both cruises were standard balcony cabins. Both were for 9 nights. I just am wondering why I originally showed 2 completed cruise credits for the Voyager cruise? I assumed it was because our sons also sailed on the same ship with us in a different standard balcony cabin under their names and we received credit for thiers as well since we have the same address.

You should have only received 1 credit for the Voyager cruise and 1 credit for the Granduer cruise. I was given 2 credits for a Voyager cruise I took years ago - and should've only received 1 - they have never taken that 2nd credit back and won't.

Now, have you looked at your cruise history (not just the credit total) on RCCL's website. Does it still show 2 credits for your Voyager cruise and none for your Granduer cruise? When you get back from a cruise what usually happens is that the name of the ship appears really quickly but it will usually show as "not qualified" for a while after the cruise. Then eventually it will switch over to showing your credit. So keep watching and you should gain a credit for your Granduer cruise.

When I look at the cruise history, there is one credit for Voyager and one for Grandeur. Many months prior to sailing on Grandeur, there was one credit for Voyager, but I had 2 completed cruise credits listed under my information on the left side for Crown & Anchor status. As I have said, the completed credits are for the total number the household has earned, so I assumed that our son's cabin on Voyager gave us a second completed cruise credit. After the Grandeur appeared as a credit on the completed cruises dside of the page, the completed cruise credits did not change. I am trying to figure out why we originally had 2 completed cruise credits after the Voyager sailing and why it didn't increase after the Grandeur. I have spoken to a Crown & Anchor Rep. and she said we should only have 2 and can't explain why we had 2 back in March.

We got one credit value for the cruise on Voyager under the credit value, but had 2 completed cruise credits inthe completed cruise credits on the left side of the cruise information. This happened to my husband, myself and our one son who lives at home and is in college. This ws after the Granduer cruise. When I looked at the questions at the top of the page, it had one for Cruise Credits Do Not Match Credit Value. It stated that the cruise credit value is the total number of cruise credits you earn on your own. Then, it stated that the Completed Cruise Credits are the total number the household has earned. After reading this, I assumed that's why we all had 2 completed cruise credits from teh Voyager sailing. I have spoken witht eh Crown & Anchor Rep and she stated that our son would receive a credit for our Grandeur sailing even though he didn't sail because he lives in the same household. Whether a mistake was made prior to our Grandeur cruise or not, shouldn't they not be able to take away the completed cruise credits. In which case, we should have 3 now.

Good Luck, Mary Anne,

They still have not given me my earned 2 credits for my last June 7 cruise. No-one at C & A seems to be able to tell you anything, or at least it's different every time.

Have you emailed them? I emailed C&A and within days my credits were corrected. Maybe if you put it in writing, they will react quicker?

I emailed them twice, and they told me that if it was not posted by today to call C & A and they would add them manually. When I called today I was told they are not allowed to add them manually, and that sometimes it takes till day 15 of up to three months post cruise to come through. That takes me up to Sept 15. I have emailed them again today and waiting for their further reply.

I have e-mailed them and their response was that we earned one credit value for Voyager and one credit value for Grandeur. That I understand. No one can explain to me how or why we had 2 completed credits in March prior to our Grandeur sailing in August. I am trying to find out if you have family members who live in same house but, sail in a separate cabin in their name on the same sailing, whether you get a completed cruise credit for their cabin. That's what it appeared to me when I looked in March and saw 2 completed cruise credits on my information on the left side on my cruise credit page under information.

As Wrona told you, no. You only get credit for the cabin YOU stayed in. If you did not stay in a suite on either cruise, you should have one credit for the Voyager and one credit for the Grandeur. As for nobody explaining to you why you had two, it was apparently a mistake and has been taken care of.

I am wondering if it's because are some irregularities on the cruise credit page.

I just looked at mine again and it has my 12 night Jewel of the Seas cruise for which I should get two credits listed 4 times. Maybe that's what is confusing them. Mind you I don't mind if they end up giving me 8 credits. :D I would go straight from Gold to Diamond. Watch this space.

What I am still trying to understand is that on the RCCL webpage about cruise credits, it states that the completed cruise credits are the total earned by the members of the household. When I spoke with RCCl, they said our son would receive credit for our cruise on the Grandeur even though he didn't go on the sailing. The website states:

Cruise Credits Do Not Match Credit Value?

The Cruise Credit Value Column is the total number of cruise credits you have earned on your own. The Completed Cruise Credits are the total number of credits your household has earned.

Based on this information, I would assume that we should get a credit for our son sailing on the Voyager in a different cabin under his name since he earned one credit for that, especially since he will get a credit for our cruise on Grandeur that he didn't go on. That would explain why we each had 2 completed cruise credits prior to Grandeur. I have read on some of the other threads on CC that if they have made a mistake, they won't take away a credit from you to fix that mistake. If that's the case, then they should still give us a completed cruise credit each for Grandeur. I am just trying to understand the system!

Thanks for all of your help!

Based on the way this reads from the RCCl website, I would assume that the total number of credits a household has earned should include the credits each person has earned totalled together. It is somewhat ambiguously written. I can understand not earning credit for a cabin you share with another household member, but a different cabin with a different reservation number should give you credit, especially if household members can earn credits from another's cruise that they didn't even go on.

You do not get a credit for your son staying in a different room on the same cruise. You only get one credit for your Voyager cruise and one credit for your Grandeur cruise. Your son will not get credit for the Granduer cruise if he didn't sail with you - BUT all members of the same household keep the same C&A level that is what they meant.

How it works is:

for each cruise YOU take you get 1 credit. If you stay in a JS or higher you get 1 extra credit, if it is a 12 night or longer cruise you get 1 extra credit.

So on your Voyager cruise you earned 1 cruise credit, your husband earned 1 cruise credit, and each of your sons earned 1 cruise credit.

Now, when you went on your Granduer cruise you, your husband, and son # 1 each earned 1 cruise credit towards your own C&A accounts. Son #2 did not earn a cruise credit, BUT C&A keeps all members of the same household at the same C&A level.

At no time do they add together the cruise credits of a household. Each person earns their own cruise credits - but they keep members of a household at the same level. You don't earn credit for each others' cabin.

The 2nd credit that showed up before your Granduer cruise was a mistake, which they have fixed. You should only have 2 cruise credits - 1 for your Voyager cruise and 1 for your Granduer cruise.

Wrona, you are absolutely right.

Sometimes the RCCL website lags with the wrong information and eventually, it gets corrected. Even though we are Diamond Plus, it still shows Diamond on the website. They haven't programmed Diamond Plus into the system yet! LOL!

I guess I am wrong but I was under the same impression as the OP.

Me and my wife took our first cruise in August 2005. We filled out the membership kit the last day of the cruise and turned it in. When we received our cards I logged into account online and it shows 1 credit next to our 1 completed cruise. However underneath the level it says Completed Cruise Credits: 2. I emailed C&A and they said the completed cruise page only shows cruises I took. The Completed Cruise credits is all the credits earned by my household.

So not only does RC have a very confusing wording of the meaning for Completed Cruise credits but their staff seems to be confused also. To make it even more confusing they make mistakes (i.e 2 credits instead of 1) which seems to validate the confusion.

So to make it simple since I have only been on 1 cruise (<12 days & not a suite) the Completed Cruise Credits should be 1? RC just made a mistake when they awarded me 2? Then didn't catch the issue even when I brought it to their attention? No wonder why people are confused.

Kelynj,

Have you registered online for the Crown & Anchor society? You will need to register and set up a user name and password. Once you have done that you can access your information. Then you will be able to check your cruise history, get member coupons and other information. You can also check your reservations that you might currently have.

Hope this helps!

MAHA

thanks for the fast reply.

I have a crown & Anchor membership number from my first and only cruise with RCCL. I have booked for the freedom and this cruise shows up when I go on the site but there is no cruise history. I booked the freedom cruise by stating our membership number - any ideas???

Kelnj,

Have you signed into the Crown & Anchor part of the website? From there you should be able to get into your information from the My Cruises welcome screen. There should be a box on the left side that has your information. On there will be a Your cruise history link. You should be able to click it and see your previous cruise history. If you cruise doesn;t appear there, e-mail or call Crown & Anchor.
