cruiseacecat Posted August 31, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Sorry if this has been asked and answered. When underway at speed, are the side balconies usable? Is wind a problem? Thanks to anyone who can help.
mikemike2 Posted August 31, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Yes the balconies are useable at speed which is about 25 miles per hour. There is so much shelter by the ship that you may not feel any breeze at all. The only problem would be a storm.
cruiseacecat Posted August 31, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Thanks so much for the prompt reply. Maybe now I can relax! Really looking forward to seeing the Century.
hajekfam Posted August 31, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2006 We have done the fall trans 3 times and have used our balcony on all three. In fact, one of our requirements for a transatlantic is to have the balcony - all those sea days make it quite worthwhile.
shofer Posted September 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2006 We did the LA to Hawaii in January and used our balcony almost every day and those first few days were cold!
cruiseacecat Posted September 1, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks to all of you for your responses. Just wondered if a side would work as well as an aft balcony. Looks like the answer is yes. Wonderful.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted September 1, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2006 One important consideration might be wheter you are taking the Northern or Southern Crossing. We did the TA Northern Crossing in September. We were in a RS with a really nice deck. We used the balcony quite a bit on the European tour portion - Amsterdam, Brussels, Le Havre, Cork. During our crossing it was far too cold for us to go out for more than 5 minutes during the 4 day crossing. We are looking forward to the Southern Crossing next year and hope the weather will be more moderate. Jim
