MrsNoPlea Posted September 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2006 I am looking forward to the rock climbing wall! I have never done any rock climbing and I figure that a cruise ship is a great place to try for the first time!!! I don't see many posts about rock climbing here but would love to hear from anyone who has done rock climbing on any of the RCCL ships. Thanks! There is rock climbing wall on the Grandeur (or at least was when I sailed on the Grandeur). It's okay and they have a variety of pegs depending on experience. It was a bit more challenging than I thought, though I opted for a couple of steps up from the "easy" pegs. A very very exhausted me even made the cruise in review video. MrsNoPlea Posted September 4, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 4, 2006 Question for you...is there anything that I need to bring from home or do they provide everything on the ship? Any particular shoes needed? Obviously I know NOTHING about rock climbing so I will stick to the easy pegs! Thanks for responding!
dak_friendly Posted September 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2006 Question for you...is there anything that I need to bring from home or do they provide everything on the ship? Any particular shoes needed? I showed up in sandals and had to go back to my cabin to get some socks. I'd suggest bringing some athletic socks if you normally do not pack them. They provided some special shoes and helmet. Wear something comfortable that you have plenty of mobility with. Also of note, the texture of the wall is akin to sandpaper. Be extra careful and take your time but most of all ... have fun!
