CALMOM Posted September 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2006 Can anyone tell me if the have stayed on DIAMOND PRINCESS onthe Aloha or Baja deck with a balcony cabin? I have always hear the caribe deck is the best. Is there full overhead covering on the Aloha & Baja deck? I heard that the balconies on the Caribe deck are larger but do not have full coverage. I can't tell you about balcony cabins themselves on the Diamond Princess, but I am looking at the deck plan for the Diamond/Sapphire. The problem with the Aloha deck is what's above you: the swimming pools mid-ship and Horizon Court on the aft end. The forward cabins have other cabins above and below, so those are probably quieter. mncruizr Posted September 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2006 I was on the Aloha (A738 aft) back in August and it is completely covered, in fact we had an overhang that more than covered our balcony. We never got wet and infact were about the only floor that could be on the balcony for the entire cruise. Great for a rainy Alaska cruise. the balcony below us was covered by our balcony, but the overhang covered them some too. No problems from pools for us (aft), we occasionally heard chairs and tables in the Horizon court - usually in the morning as they arranged tables and vacuumed (I assume). I didn't find it a problem but then I tend to be a glass half full kind. For alaska I think you will like the Aloha - nice and high up to see whales, which we saw plenty. elceecarr Posted September 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2006 We also just returned from the Sapphire Princess - also on the Aloha Deck. Loved the view and didn't have a problem with any chairs. We had the pool area above us and rather cool to be out around the pool area. It was completely covered and we could stand out - despite the rain - and watch from the comfort of our own room. Caribe deck does go out further and is viewed by those on the Baja and Aloha decks above and is also not covered. I agree Aloha is a great choice.
