Formal Nights

My DH and I are cruising next June on the Explorer of the Seas out of Cape Liberty for 9 nights and I was wondering how many formal nights there are on a 9 night cruise?

I was just on a 7 night and there were 2 formal nights there. I am not sure how many you will have it might be however manyyou are out to sea. I find that they plan the formal nights to be the ones that are out at sea for the day.

There are two for a 9 night

They are generally the 1st sea day and the last sea day. If you don't have 2 days at sea, it's usually the 2nd night and the next to the last evening.

can you please tell me what the men wore? were there more suits/ties, tuxes or just slacks and dress shirt no jacket no tie?

We need to shop and figure out what to get for hubby and he isnt too keen on even a black suit. He wants to wear black slacks, black dress shirt, and his sportcoat that goes with this. BUT is this dressy enough??

2 formal nights, 9 or 10 nights is the usual cut off for 2 formal nights, then we go to 3.,

I went the sports coat route this past cruise, but I was in the minority. Most wore suits.
