djbleach Posted September 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2006 We are taking the 4 night cruise comming up on the Soverign of the Seas. I was thinking of just backing everything in two carry on bags. My wife would have hers, and I the same. I think I remember seeing this done on another cruise. Would I still be able to make it to our rooms with out having to check our bags? Then on the return, would I be able to leave without having to check our bags? We have an early flight to catch, and this would speed our process . As anybody just been on a short cruise? Is this practice common place? Thanks for any help. Sheffie Posted September 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2006 You do not have to check the carry-on when you embark, and you can take it off the ship with you. I always take a carry-on with me on and off the ship.
glgolfer Posted September 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2006 We're on the 9/11 Sovereign cruise and will just have carryons. You will be able to get off the ship first as a "self carry". If there's no immigration problems that should be around 0730 or so. I think a lot of people just take carryons for the short cruises.
cb at sea Posted September 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2006 If you can carry it-go for it!
RM Posted September 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2006 Remember that oversized bags can't go through the scanner. If it's too large they will make you check it. We do it all the time with no problems at all. If you board prior to 1:00 you will have to take your luggage with you as the staterooms aren't open until then.
