We will be traveling next April from Springfield, MA to Miami, FL to go on a cruise. Does anyone know approximately how many times I will have to fill the gas tank in order to get there? We will be driving a minivan.....probably rt. 95 the majority of the way down.

 

Any guesses?

According to Mapquest.com this is what I found:

 

Total Est. Time: 22 hours, 36 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1438.26 miles

 

All you need to do is figure out how many miles to the gallon you get in your minivan and you will have the answer.

Figuring it to be about 1450 miles, that you start with a full tank, and that you can travel 300 miles on a tankful, you will need to stop four times to fill up on the way there, and you will need to fill up again when you leave Miami to return home. How's that sound? :D

Does it really matter, or are you trying to decide between driving and flying? If not, it will cost whatever it costs, and take as many stops and fillups as it takes:D . Not the answer you were wanting, but the question is very subjective as it depends on how fast you drive, how many miles to the gallon you get, and how many stops you make, and most of all - traffic,e.g., you get stuck in a traffic jam/accident and wait, and wait, and wait. Well, you probably have the idea now.

thanks for the gr8 guesstimate krooz.........I was tossing around flying but driving does seem to be the cheaper of the two. Just trying to get rough estimate on gas, tolls, hotel and parking for the week.

the way to get cheap hotels is to stop @ welcome stations @ each state & get those books for hotels. we have saved a lot of money that way.

I have a Venture minivan and it takes me 3 full tanks of gas to drive to Miami. (6 fill ups round trip) I live approximately 1/2 hr outside of Detroit (in Canada). Hope this helps.

thanks cynd.........that is probably comperable to my trip........that is less than I thought, I was fuguring at least 5 fill ups :eek:
