turia Posted September 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2006 I had a wonderful first cruise on the Fantasy on August, 2006 but thought I would share something that might be of interest to those of you who have ever done the Body Analysis that is offered on the ship ( I don't know if it's offered on the other Carnival ships). I have done this test before (on land)and was told strictly not to drink alcohol or coffee before this test as it will definitely affect the out come of this test. I was not told this by the person who did the test and didn't remember till that evening when I was speaking to one of my dinner companions who was quite upset by the test results. I hope that this helps anyone who has tried the test and had results that seem way out there. ( I know my test results were off due to the Bohemian Mama's I was drinking the night before and just before the test). If you would like more info here is a link to the machine that they use. http://www.biodyncorp.com/tools/test_protocol.html

It is a shame when you have to do someone else's job for them. I don't think the machine would make it through a body analysis on me....it would certainly break down in laughter! turia Posted September 10, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 10, 2006 I just don't want anyone to get bad results after a night of drinking and a pot of coffee in the morning and then start crash dieting once their cruise is over thinking that their obese and it's actually tequila talking (it really upset the person I was having diner with). As for the machine having a good laugh you would be surprised at how much muscle is under the fat of overweight people (they need more to conduct their daily routines) The problem is they go on crash diets and lose their lean body mass and start a vicious cycle. I Luv Crusin Posted September 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2006 My DD had this done and I was not happy about the results either! She's 5 feet and they said she should weight 100. I do think she could lose a few lbs., 5-10 at most but not 25lbs!!! We did this together and when I questioned his results the guy couldn't give me clear answers. I couldn't understand my DD building muscle to weigh less! I don't think they are trained that well at all!
VentureMan_2000 Posted September 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2006 I'm just picturing a long line of people who want the analysis: You look fine... NEXT! You're a little skinny... NEXT! Have a piece of fruit, for gosh sakes... NEXT! Your body just looks weird... NEXT!
LHP Posted September 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2006 That stuff has always confused me too. I mean, if you really work out with weights... you can actually weigh more and look better because it is muscle. So you have gained weight....but look better. What an oxymoron??? victory2020 Posted September 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2006 They try to sell it to make $$. I was on the Paradise & they tried to tell me I need body fat analysis (I'm 5'5" & weigh 119). Thankfully I have a baody fat scale at home so he shut up & stopped trying to sell me anything.

I couldn't understand my DD building muscle to weigh less! I don't think they are trained that well at all! They're trained well and know all these things, I confronted the guy the next day and he told me I was correct. The cruise line isn't going to tell you to not drink before the test as that would affect their bottom line$$$$$. What they tell you about toxins in your body, exercise and diet is correct it's just the text itself that will backfire if your body is not prepared for it. When I did the text I was 10% above my normal bf% but I had a lot to drink the night before not to mention the same day and coffee so I'm not surprised my test was wrong. There is nothing wrong with your daughter gaining muscle it's a good thing but she should do this with trained specialist. When people try to lose weight they cut everything out and force their body into starvation mode thinking their doing themselves good (I did this to myself when I was 18 lost about 20lbs of muscle not good) just be supportive of her and guide her to the people that teach her proper nutrition. petro772 Posted September 10, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2006 After reading these posts let me give you all a clue: Bypass this event and do something else with your money. I know, I know, all these people are experts and this is so accurate and everyone needs to do it, blah, blah, blah. Have fun a different way. There's so much else to do! ;)
