Do the Grand and the Star have the same layout?

I just found out that our second cruise is on the Star in January 2007. Our first was last January on the Grand. From what I have read so far, it looks like the layout is the same as both have the casino, same restaurants, MUTS, etc. If this is true, I am thrilled as we loved the Grand. Anyone been on both and is there a difference? TIA! :)

As they are the same class of ship there will be a lot of similarities, however the decor will be very different, the Grand (a ship I worked on last year) looks old now inside and is very different in terms of quality form the other newer ship. I worked on the Golden last year (also the same class) and was transferred to the Grand and although I immediately new my way around, it looked very different, in that it looked older and not as nice (and had a funny smell!) The Star will most likely be much nicer inside.

Exact layout but there are some improvements on the Star. The atrium looks nicer and isn't as dark. There are a few more staircases on the ship, etc. . The Grand seems dark to me, not sure why compared to the Golden and Star.

Minor details but improvements, none-the-less.

Great! Sounds like I won't be disappointed. I'm actually a bit relieved there is no MUTS ... hubby liked it for the NFL games but we never watched at night and as long as the casino is there he will be a happy man. And during the day, we purposely laid at the adults-only pool as I didn't find it relaxing to have a movie blaring while trying to relax with my foo-foo drink. :p

One other question ... on the Grand, we had formal nights on Tues/Thurs ... is this the same on the Star W. Carribean itinerary?

Thanks for all the replies all. Feels great to be back here planning our next voyage with your help!!!

The Star and the Grand are the exact same ships as is the Golden. They just have a couple of minor changes on the Star and Golden than are on the Grand which is the oldest of the three. They changed one of the stairwells and elevators to the traditional dining room and added restrooms on the same floor as traditional that the Grand doesn't have. The Star does not have MUTS. We will be on the Star again (2nd time) in 41 days and I can't wait to see how it is after the fire. Our cabin was in the section that got burned out. I will be on the Golden in December for the first time. I really enjoyed our sailings on the Grand (3), the best one being our transAtlantic we did last November.
