Hi I booked my flight and cruise together for the Destiny is February. Can anyone give me info about this? Are the flights good? Long lay overs? We are flying from Boston to San Juan the day of the cruise.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what the cruise air cost you but if it is NOT president's weeks the airfare on Jetblue is 129 each way pp. and it is nonstop. This way you have control when you arrive. I would actually fly in the day before especially in winter from Boston. San Juan is a wonderful location and there is a lot to see in Old San Juan. I believe you can cancel the air portion and book your own. The only thing they say is that they will get you to the ship in time to board. In the case of Destiny that could be 7:00 at night as the ship doesn't leave until 10:00. It is very easy to get a taxi and get to the pier or hotel on your own. I would call Carnival and double check that the air is able to be cancelled. and then check out your own flight options.

I would never book my flights through the cruise lines because you are somewhat restricted. I make my own flights so I know exactly what time I'm leaving and arriving and I always fly in the day before, less stress especially in the winter, never know with flights being cancelled.

I know what you mean. I booked my own flights for October. When I checked for this particular cruise, it made it work for us. We wouldn't be able to afford the 800ppair plus the cruise. Flights to Florida were even outragous, nothing direct either. Being restricted to school vacations makes it difficult.

thanks for your help

We also booked cruise/air for February Suan Juan. We know its nice to get in a day earlier and book air yourself, but work schedule would not allow it to happen. We just needed to get away and the price was right. We also hope we don't have to many lay overs or delays. We did the same, checked airfare before we booked, but the week we are going airfare was more than what cruiseline offered. Since you will be coming from Boston and we are leaving from Newark the plane may pick you guys up first and then stop to pick us up and then continue to San Juan. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hope we all get there on time and stress free. If any problems arise then we will vacation at the air terminal until cruiseline can get us on the ship.

I, too, would be concerned about Boston in February. The only time we flew in the day of the cruise was from Memphis, Tn to San Juan and it was a disaster. Thankfully, we made it with 30 minutes to spare....but our friends did not get on until 2 days later.

A 320 Airbus had mechanical problems in Memphis and it was full of folks headed to San Juan for this cruise. There simply was not enough spare seats on other flights or other airlines to compensate. This was years ago. I can't imagine how tight the selection is these days.

I know I am totally crossing my fingers, at least the ship doesn't leave till 10pm at night :) We have traveled this week before and I don't want to jinx myself, but we have always had good luck. (this will be the year). I got the insurance just in case.

everyone in our group is booked on American and we booked it all individaully. It was the cheapest from New Jersy, Indiana, New York and Florida!

I see you are leaving in 19 days. Have a great time and tell us all about it when you get back. Enjoy!
