melissa@cruisecritic Posted September 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2006 Next year we'll see seven ship debuts (eight if you count the 680-passenger Royal Princess, which is Swan Hellenic's reconfigured Minerva II built in 2001, and nine with Norwegian Pearl, which will actually start its U.S. run in December 2006). Vote for the one YOU are most looking forward to -- and be sure to post why! Can't decide? WackyHeathen Posted September 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2006 If you ain't with Queen, you're against the queen. Simple as that. I don't want to hear this "well, I like the queen, but I prefer Pearl" nonsense. Either pick the queen or prepare for battle. Cheers, Wacky
Jana Posted September 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I voted for Royal Princess, although I can't wait to see the NCL newbuilds. The thought of a ship with less than 700 passenger berths is SOOO appealing to me, considering that all the new ships will be monster-sized, and NCL has just announced two new-builds at over 150,000 GRT and nearly 4,000 guests. Ugh! Jana
Jana Posted September 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2006 Wacky, I came really close. My mouse arrow hovered, moved, hovered, moved, and then of its own volition chose Royal Princess. Queen is 2014 passengers, and I am trying (dammit) to make a point!!!! :p Jana
Randy & Carmen Posted September 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2006 Well.....I picked Carnival Freedom.......I mean I might as well pick the Ship that the next CC Host Cruise will be on in 2008 ;) :D
Host Dan Posted September 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I chose Queen Victoria. It will be nice to see how much they (Cunard) can improve over QM2! Host Dan
dougnewmanatsea Posted September 12, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2006 ROYAL PRINCESS. I'm not excited about her, but at least she's a ship I might like to sail in. The others really don't appeal to me. I guess I should be excited about QUEEN VICTORIA but I'm not... She will be interesting but my attachment to Cunard has to do with Atlantic crossings (she won't do many) and QE2 (she's not QE2).
Kindlychap Posted September 12, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I chose Cunard's Queen Victoria. However, the real question raised by her launch is how much she hastens the end of the greatest ship afloat. It doesn't help that she's not a liner - Cunard can say what they want, she's a cruise ship tarted up. But I will try and be positive.
Host Joe Posted September 12, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I chose Liberty of the Seas, as I am excited to see another Freedom class come out... now if Celebrity's Solstice in 08 was an option, that would be my very first choice as I cannot wait to see that! Ferrets Posted September 12, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I think that the Queen victoria is the best of the 2007 ships. However, I am really looking forward to the new Celebrity ships, Solstice and Equinox.
Guest Host Tink Posted September 13, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Emerald Princess gets my vote, although I'm excited to see all of them, really! :D :D :D
Host Star Posted September 13, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 13, 2006 queen victoria got my vote.. I know there is a Queen in my future and maybe it will be victoria :)
Kindlychap Posted September 13, 2006 #13 Share Posted September 13, 2006 queen victoria got my vote.. I know there is a Queen in my future and maybe it will be victoria :) There is a queen in our present and her name is QE2. If you haven't been aboard, why not? She's the last real liner left. ICRE1629 Posted September 13, 2006 #14 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Emerald Princess received my vote. Although I am only 17 and have never cruised before (going on many cruises is a personal goal of mine), I've found the Princess ships to be some of the best. I am a person of external appeareance as well as internal. The Princess ships are the best looking cruise ships from the outside in my opinion. The Emerald Princess will no doubt join my list of the best looking cruise ships out there. On a side note, I am a firm believer that when it comes to things like vehicles, etc, external apperance matters. I take that as far as waxing my lawn mower and bicycle to keep them shining and clean looking!
Bramcruiser Posted September 13, 2006 #15 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Picked Queen Victoria because I'm simply in a Cunard phase at this time. I'm doing the QM2 for the first time in December and doing the QE2 for the first time next summer. So I guess that makes Victoria the next one to try out? Andy Posted September 13, 2006 #16 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Hi Everyone ! I voted for Emerald Princess. She should be a great ship. I really like the two different 10 night Caribbean itineraries she will be doing out of Ft Lauderdale in late 2007. I am sure I will be booking a cruise on her soon :)
Host CMLA Posted September 13, 2006 #17 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I voted Norwegian Pearl. RCI may have their ice rinks and surf areas but the Pearl will have a bowling alley! :D
CruisinMK Posted September 13, 2006 #18 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I guess I'm jaded but I'm not excited about any of them. :) I'm a little curious to see the itinerary the megaships will do. I might consider a megaship if it did an interesting itinerary, but aren't they pretty limited where they can go?
sunrise2 Posted September 13, 2006 #19 Share Posted September 13, 2006 My vote is for the Carnival Freedom. Next year my husband may be retiring and what better way to celebrate but on the Carnival Freedom!
shoreguy Posted September 13, 2006 #20 Share Posted September 13, 2006 You forgot the NCL Gem - a new ship headed to NYC and replacing the Dawn in October 2007. A huge deal for the millions in the northeast. That said I am currently looking forward to the Pearl since I am booked on the repo from Southampton to Miami in December :) Still waiting for details on the Gem repo to NYC. calmac Posted September 13, 2006 #21 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I voted for Norwegian Pearl as I'm due to sail on her inaugural Transatlantic this December - can't wait.
shoreguy Posted September 13, 2006 #22 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I found the Gem  It pays to read the whole list. I assumed the two NCL ships would be together :o
zimmerjulie Posted September 13, 2006 #23 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Another for the Norwegian Pearl.:) I'll be sailing her when she arrives here in the Pacific Northwest. I don't know if I'll take the time to bowl, but if the water's really rough, it might be a rare chance to improve my score;) .
Cruise Miriam Posted September 13, 2006 #24 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I voted for Liberty of the Seas --- I'm a big RCI fan. Besides, I really like comparing the different ships within a particular line.
